Just been to my local Co- op

I saw in their reduced section, where they keep bread / flour etc etc this milk lactofree fresh semi skimmed milk

I said the the manager (very nicely) that i think this milk should be in the fridge....

She read the instructions "Storage:
Store upright in fridge at 0-5°C. Once opened use within 3 days and do not exceed the 'Use by' date. After each use, reclose and refrigerate at once."

and then proceeded to tell me that it didnt matter as the shop was air conditioned so under 5C .... and therefor it didnt need to be in a fridge.

I tried to explain that there is no way that the whole shop is 5C (fridge temperature) but she just said that actually it was Hmm, and that this fresh milk doesnt need to be in a fridge.
We are all in there in shorts and T shirt.... the shop IS NOT 5 C (or even close)

(It is use by "2 days time" so will probably sit there for 2 days STILL FOR SALE") Shock

I do like the idea of co op but find our local one so inadequate that I dont shop there any more
They need to look at staff training and procedures within store to check storage, that the stuff they are selling is within date, that you dont have to queue ages at the till while staff seem to lounge around doing whatever, that if they run out of bread by lunchtime that maybe they should order more rather than "if its not on the shelf we dont have it" sniff, bored attitude

I'd phone environmental health at your local council. This isn't your battle but it needs to be somebody's.

My experience of the local co op is much like yours Rats so I don't go there and instead use the Spar shop a mile or so further away.
My biggest bugbear is that there will be one till open, a queue a mile long and three or four staff behind the cigarette counter discussing their plans for the weekend Angry added to that the person on the till rather than acknowledging the person they should be serving will be joining in with her colleagues conversation.
I can't be doing with it and would rather use the car, spend a little bit more and get served in a prompt and courteous manner.
