make at least some effort to stop small children sprinting around and getting in the way at baggage collection in the airports?

You end up tripping over them when you're dragging and lifting heavy suitcases off the belt when they stand and mess around so close to it. I'm surprised I've not seen an accident yet.

The baggage claim bit is the worst part of any flight if you're travelling with small, energetic children who have been forced to sit still for a number of hours. Of course they want to crawl/run/move and if you're on your own it's incredibly difficult to keep a hold of your own child while pushing through the adults crowding round the belt. So, I guess YANBU cos it is a PITA but then, we know it's a PITA. All we want to do is get our case and get out of the road. So a little bit of understanding would go a long, long way.

Actually here's a tip for the airports - please do not put HUGE red emergency stop buttons on the end of the moving walkway things at precisely the correct height for a toddler. Not that my angel would touch them or anything....at least not as long as me or DH can rugby tackle her in time.

maybe airports need to paint a bright RED ' stand back here when waiting' line at the carousel

also I think people, esp non frequent flyers think some other passenger is going to grab their bag!! I know my elderly parents think this

Not sure why this is really up for debate. Adults should be careful, children should not be running around busy areas. Airports are awful places with not enough for children to do. Their parents should not be letting them get into danger or inconvenience others.
