To think "Pussy Magnet" is a bit strong for a 5.30 cooking show?

There I was half asleep watching Dinner Date, a cooking show where a lad goes on 3 dates and gets these poor girls to cook a three course meal for him very feminist friendly

One of the dates had a cat, and aforementioned lad asked what it was called, stroking it on the chin.

To which the voice over lady remarked "Oh look who is the pussy magnet".

Shock

Now, my kids are watching this too, and I now have visions of kids up and down the land asking what a pussy magnet is. And getting a clip round the ear for their troubles.

Seriously, all us adults know what this term refers to, is it not slightly OTT for a Monday teatime cookery programme?

It would probably go over their aheads. Have you seen some of the children's films? They're filled with innuendo and rude references but children don't catch on because they don't understand.

Incidentally, they alternate between the men cooking and the women cooking so no feminist issues really.

Meh!

Thats nothing compared to In the night Garden!

Lougle · 13/08/2012 17:54

Were they talking about Salmon, or other cat-friendly foods?

TheLazyGirlBlog · 13/08/2012 17:56

No no cat food reference.

I didn't even notice!

I was actually watching it. This show has women go round to three mens houses too, not just men going round to three women, so no sexism there.

There was no cat food, just a cat who would not leave the bloke alone, was scrounging for food, so he was jokinlgy desrcibed as a pussy magnet. If any children took any notice at all, they would just assume an innocent comment.

frillylemons · 13/08/2012 18:01

Ha ha ha!!! I noticed that. Was quite shocked, even though it was a cat reference.

SoupDragon · 13/08/2012 18:02

FGS, a child would think it just referred to the cat.

Fourfingerkitkat · 13/08/2012 18:07

Grin....this type of thing just makes me laugh to be honest....

BertieBotts · 13/08/2012 18:11

Confused but to a child, pussy = cat! So they would just think that the announcer was describing the man as someone that cats liked, which is the alternate meaning of the pun she was making?

They wouldn't realise it was a pun, so er... yeah. YABU.

I was about 9 when Grease came out and remember singing along to Greased Lightning

'You know that I ain't bragging, she's a real pussy wagon'

and

'she's like a dream, the chicks will cream'

....not the first clue what I was saying and what it meant.

FrankelSaysRelax · 13/08/2012 18:33

Think back to Dick & Dom in da Bungalow - full of innuendo (in-your-endo Wink):

Creamy muck muck

Morning Wood

Etc

Grin
