I am a bit of a loser shopaholic and I love the current extended shopping hours on s Sunday, my local town centre shops are now open 10-6. I love drive, but it seems to help traffic congestion too, as shoppers are less concentrated.

Aibu to wonder why there is a restriction in the first place?

I think it was you who referred to profit further down nitty. Profit from increased turnover presumably? At whose expense?

And with reference to convenience, Tesco at the retail park isn't convenient for everyone. When your corner shop closes down due to lack of business where does your pensioner neighbour go for her emergency bread and milk?

large companies do not make locally based decisions on opening hours, all sites will open the same hours so me arguing about it putting forward a business case will not make one jot of difference

maybe spout some of their jargon at them...think local act global? I have always found if you put forward a business case that they will loose money they will listen.

Saggar
Profit might be from intangible brand loyalty, I can't comment on hypothetical cases but my local corner shop does well despite a tesco local open all hours because it's closer.
