to want a c3po toy suitable for my 2 year old?

poppy283 · 12/08/2012 11:17

I can't find anything suitable for DD's age range, she's obsessed with Star Wars and I know she'd be thrilled to get a 'yellow robot' (c3po) for her 2nd birthday in two weeks.

All I can find are lego and playskool action figures, suitable from ages 5 and 4 respectively, can anyone help?

Most toys are 3+ as they contain small parts. If your DD is past putting stuff in her mouth then but her the C3PO.

LegoAcupuncture · 12/08/2012 11:25

Playskool do a Millenium Falcon suitable from 3+ in Mothercare.

crazygracieuk · 12/08/2012 11:27

I've seen plush r2d2 so they might do c3po but they might be 3+

germyrabbit · 12/08/2012 11:30

i thought there might be a plush too but can't see anything

try searching for 'plush' on ebay

there is certainly alot of star wars 'crap' out there Grin

Dolallytats · 12/08/2012 11:42

There are a couple of soft toys on Amazon, but one is £25, the other £33. There is also some very cute C3PO dressup, but I didn't see how much that was!!!

Have you tried Forbidden Planet, they may have something suitable.

shewhowines · 12/08/2012 11:47

Manufacturers are just covering their own backs with the 3+thing. Just use your own judgement as to the dangers of each toy and your childs maturity and ability not to eat/stick things in variousorifaces.

My kids had 3+ toys from a very young age. Sometimes I removed part of the set/small pieces but most were fine.

\link{http://www.etsy.com/listing/58184454/pdf-of-c-3po-star-wars-mini-amigurumi\cute!} but you'd have to knit him Grin

Dolallytats · 12/08/2012 11:47

Argos have a few soft toys, R2D2 included, although they don't have C3PO you might see something else your DD might like. Yoda is cute!!!

Dolallytats · 12/08/2012 11:50

Ooo, ooooo, exiting!!! Build-a-Bear have a C3PO costume for the bears on their website!!! Limited availability-£14!!!

shewhowines · 12/08/2012 11:51

Some toys with 3+ just wouldn't appeal to a 3+ as they are so babyish. I think you would be holding back their development by sticking rigidly to that. Obviously you have to be careful and use common sense but manufacturers don't want lawsuits thrust upon them, so err a great deal on the side of caution.

Dolallytats · 12/08/2012 11:53

I mean exciting of courseBlush

Kladdkaka · 12/08/2012 12:00

You could make her one

CouthyMow · 12/08/2012 12:01

I let 18mo DS3 play with hot wheels cars that are 3+!

Hot wheels cars don't have the tiny rubber wheels though, I wouldn't let him have the ones with those, as he would eat them, but he has a basket of hot wheels ones and a car may in the front room.

That and his happy land stuff (18mo+ but he has had and played with since 12mo) are just about all he plays with despite having 4 DC's worth of baby and toddler toys and my front room resembling a toy shop!

Age ranges are just there as a guide, if your 2yo isn't going to eat the small bits, then a 3+ toy will be fine. Or just remove the tiny bits. I am fully intending to buy DS3 some toys at Christmas that are 3+, even though he will only be 23mo.

Mostly because he wants the Jake and the Neverland Pirates pirate ship. If there are really tiny bits, I will just put them away until he stops putting them in his mouth.

poppy283 · 12/08/2012 15:28

Thanks so much for all the replies, I don't usually stick to the 3+ rules, but I'm wary of ordering something on the internet in case it turns up full of small parts! DD plays with hotwheels too.

Kladdkaka and germyrabbit that's so cute, unfortunately I can't knit :(

We went to a jumble sale today and found an old McDonalds toy R2D2 for 50p - what luck :)

Will keep looking!

I saw a C3PO robot toy somewhere recently, stuffed but sort of solidly stuffed iykwim. It wasn't plush or fluffy, it was shiny material. I have a feeling it was in one of the cheapy shops, so B&M, Poundstretcher, The Range, somewhere like that, but not an actual poundshop or I'd have bought one for no3 son. I'll look out for it this week as we're doing all the back to school shopping and will be in most of those shops at some point.

poppy283 · 12/08/2012 18:38

Ooh thanks pombear, sounds promising!

Well, yeah I think YABU. It's a bit niche isn't it, and to get pissed off that no-one has recognised the 1-toddler market that is your DD??

I don't know that many parents who would be thinking Star Wars is a 'must have' experience for 2-3yos.

And all that grumpiness from a complete Star Wars devotee. I totally respect your DD's taste, but you must own; it's not a common one amongst 2yos.

Kladdkaka · 12/08/2012 19:24

How about a bag or rucksack instead?

tiredteddy · 12/08/2012 19:32

Try and Internet search for "star wars galactic heroes" they are a younger age 3+ style star wars toys that my two have had years of play with. They are very similar to the playskool ones and easily found on eBay. I even got some two pack figures this week in our local "the original factory shop" for £4 we have several c3po and many othe characters. Def look at the playskool stuff in elc too really sturdy with ships too.

poppy283 · 12/08/2012 20:13

You're right Eugene, iabu I suppose!

Tiredteddy the galactic heroes look good - approx how big are they? EBay isn't letting on!

OP posts:
tiredteddy · 12/08/2012 20:25

2 inches ish. They are quite cool as I think they look like a mire grown up toy so are all the more appealing to toddlers!

CouthyMow · 12/08/2012 21:44

Dingbatsfur - how did you do a link on an iPhone? I am used to links converting themselves on the laptop, and have no idea how to do them on my phone.
