It's a bit late to think about that now isn't it?? Grin

They've been influencing our lives since the dawn of time.

What kind of stories are you talking about? Your OP's pretty sparse.

izzyizin · 10/08/2012 22:59

The British media doesn't influence my life.

In what way does it influence yours?

Olympia2012 · 10/08/2012 23:04

It doesn't influence mine either!!

AgentZigzag · 10/08/2012 23:10

Is it possible not to be influenced by the media at all izzy/Olympia?

So you've never heard anything you've agreed with in the media that's got you thinking in a different way to before you heard it?

Even if it's unintentional and just other people you know being influenced and you value their judgement and listen to them?

It's not easy to unlearn something you've read or heard, so unless you make a deliberate choice to think the opposite of everything you've come across in the media, nobody escapes it.

izzyizin · 10/08/2012 23:16

Please note the use of 'British', Agent Grin

It seems to me that the OP is referrring to British newspapers which I don't buy and rarely read.

AgentZigzag · 10/08/2012 23:19

Grin izzy, if you're on MN you will have been influenced by the mail in some way.

SoleSource · 10/08/2012 23:21

Because of your religion?

WorraLiberty · 10/08/2012 23:21

I think the OP could do with learning how to report a bit more about what she actually means Grin

AgentZigzag · 10/08/2012 23:25

'I think the OP could do with learning how to report a bit more about what she actually means'

I'm sure MNHQ could cobble together a course in 'How to get posters going in AIBU', modules include -

-The big subjects that never fail to get a rise
-How and when to drip feed
-The dramatic flounce
-How to namechange
-How to get your account back online after degregulation

LadyBeagleEyes · 10/08/2012 23:26

I listen to all aspects of the media, I watch a news every day, I go on various websites.
If I didn't I wouldn't have a clue what's going on in the world.
I make my decisions on what I listen too, I agree or disagree.
This is surely what everybody does.
How can you learn anything without the media?

EdithWeston · 10/08/2012 23:29

Oh I do like the sound of 'degregulation' - is it the weaning of DC off sausage rolls?

WorraLiberty · 10/08/2012 23:39

Edith!!!! Grin

izzyizin · 11/08/2012 05:12

For better, for worse, but not permanently, ZigZag Grin

HecateHarshPants · 11/08/2012 09:08

It doesn't influence me, I don't think. How does it influence you, OP?

FreudianSlipper · 11/08/2012 09:16

well it is a sad state of affairs that the sun and the daily mail are amoung the biggest sellling papers and both have very right wing agendas

of course i am influnced by the media it is how i learn about what is going on in the world you can not not be influenced by the media unless you shut yourself off totally
