I don't know, it seems that a lot of people I know are always busy socialising, having friends stay over at weekends, drinking wine and generally having more fun. I feel a bit lonely (& envious) in comparison, yet I have such happiness with my little family. Wish I could stop feeling like I'm missing out.

I hate making comparisons - like there's a league table of suffering. Many people face challenges that they struggle to surmount.

On the one hand, yesterday I buried my wife / DSs' (5 & 8) mother, after a long battle with cancer and leukaemia. On the other hand we've seen an immense amount of help and support from many, many people, which has touched me deeply. Good comes out of bad. We will move on and we will cope, survive and thrive.

So, so sorry sisyphus. Im sorry Im not sure what else to say, but my heart goes out to you and your family xxx

sostressedsostressed · 11/08/2012 02:06

You are not missing out as long as your other half treats you right (and has some change in his pockets) you will be fine.

Bedtime1 · 11/08/2012 03:20

So sorry Sisphus dad. That really does Make a lot of things seem nothing.

We often compare our lives instead of looking at what we do have. Really most of us don't have big problems. Death highlights this.. I'm so sorry., hold your kids tight. You will get through the pain.

TuesdayNightClub · 11/08/2012 09:22

So sorry to hear that sisyphus. I can't imagine what you are going through. Good luck to you and your DC's for the future. X

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 11/08/2012 09:28

Feakandweeble, thank you for correcting "through". I was not sure how I would make it through the day with that in my head Grin

OP, I feel the same as you! I am feeling lazy and doing very little. DS has been in front of the pc screen for far too many hours the past couple of days and everyone on fb is having a F A B U L O U S time!

ARGH!! I had just better make the most of today.

fastcaaah · 11/08/2012 12:53

So sorry sisyphus x

and thank you for helping me to find that grip I was looking for.

savoycabbage · 11/08/2012 12:59

I went to tumble tots (am boring myself) with my mother and she (mother) talked to an acquaintance of mine. Later her (acquaintance) had

'fabulous morning catching up with old friends over drinks'

Yes, old lady who you have never met and tepid water from a child's chewed water bottle. Simply delightful.

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 11/08/2012 15:20

Did not mean to sound flippant with my post, SisyphusDad. I had not see your post when I made mine. So sorry for your terrible loss.

ilovedainty that's a really good point about introverts and extroverts. Maybe in some sense that's what i'm struggling with - my own character. Thanks everyone - you have helped!
