It doesn't with my 5yo he will rise at 6am regardless of bedtime.

DesperatelySeekingPomBears · 09/08/2012 21:19

Nope. They'll wake up at the same time/even earlier, just much much rattier.

Indith · 09/08/2012 21:19

Mine wake earlier the more tired they are. Sorry. However, when shattered and put to bed early they will sleep in so maybe a couple of late nights to get them really shattered then an early one and you'll get a sleep in Grin.

It does with mine! Usually 7-7 as we have to get up for work but this week of hols it's been 8.30-8.30 ish...

debka · 09/08/2012 21:21

Move their bedtime forward by about 1/2 an hour and keep it there- you should (eventually) get an extra half hour in the morning. May take a week or so though.

Good luck for tomorrow morning though!

ILoveStripeySocks · 09/08/2012 21:21

Doesnt work with my brood! They can stay up til midnigth and still be up at 5.30 am :(

Mrsjay · 09/08/2012 21:21

Mine used to sleep a little longer in the morning what age are they

autumnmum · 09/08/2012 21:21

If they are like my two - not a chance Wink But come back and let us know

MamaBear17 · 09/08/2012 21:21

I have tried it with my dd and it doesnt work, but I have my fingers crossed for you!

tanfastic · 09/08/2012 21:25

I find it's pot luck. Mine can ask to go to bed at 6.30pm and sleep till 7.30 am but other times (like last night Angry) he was asleep by 8pm and up at 5.20 am.

Good luck though!

McHappyPants2012 · 09/08/2012 21:27

Think I have made a mistake then, oh well looks like an early morning with 2 grumpy children lol

missmapp · 09/08/2012 21:30

Doesn't work with mine either, but is always worth a try!!

surroundedbyblondes · 09/08/2012 21:30

Good luck! It works for some. Not for our two Sad

wonkylegs · 09/08/2012 21:31

Hmm mine sleeps in if he goes to bed at 7-7.45, before or after this and next day he's up with the larks. Unfortunately DH is getting in late at the moment from work so bedtime is being pushed later; so I get an early rising grumpy 4yo to sort out in the morning.

redrosette · 09/08/2012 21:32

never worked here. 11pm she finally sleeps, up at 6.30.

Hence my firm 'no more kids'.

pixwix · 09/08/2012 21:43

Oooooh! I dunno - mine are reasonably 'late' wakeners, and apart from the first two years or so, generally, it's been after 7am midweek, but on holidays (Ds1 is now almost 15, around 10am, although ds2 (9) is around 8amish. )

When I'm working, am up at 6am, but boys aren't.. still find it hard not to wake at 6am, on days off, although I can doze, read etc... until boys get up

My mates that have early birds tend to find that later to bed doesn't always mean later to rise. When I went on holiday with my mate and her boy, certainly, even if they were late in bed, he was still up early! It seemed like his default setting! Grin

Now - my boys sleep in - but I can't!

Wishing you luck Mc!

FirstVix · 09/08/2012 21:47

Well it works with my 15mo. Mind she never gets up before 7.30am (EARLY!!) anyway.

McHappyPants2012 · 09/08/2012 21:57

All I want is a lie in :(( dh been working alot of overtime so our normal lie in has gone through the window

ginmakesitallok · 09/08/2012 22:01

Doesn't work with mine - just means you've got to put up with them longer in the evening and then deal with them being tired and cranky at 6 the next day. But hope yours are the exception OP - good luck!!

McHappyPants2012 · 11/08/2012 01:41

sorry for the late reply. DS wet the bed meaning a 2 am bed change, DD teething and a general sleepless night to be woken up a 6am to 2 energetic DC.

It don't work
