Have been to the park with the small Maenads, and was dragged on the tips of my toes totook them to the ice cream van when it appeared. After nabbing our bounty (bubble gum knickerbocker, thank you kindly) there was a devastated little chap crying because he'd dropped some of his money and didn't have enough for his ice cream, all his pals had one. No adults around (it's in the centre of an estate where kids actually play outside) and ice cream man was making moves to go, so I gave him a quid for his ice cream. Tears all gone.

If you were his parent would you love me or loathe me? Curious.

No SmellsLikeWhiteSpirit, I'm not a crier, I'm really not, but a kid with no ice cream will set me off.
That and lonely teddies

I was out with another MNer yesterday, and bought the kids Ice cream, and was saying how upset it makes me when kids drop their ice cream off the cone.
I made them have tubs so it wouldn't happenGrin

I'd love you to bits DD2 is a total ice cream addict even at 11 she'd be in tears if she lost her money.

I've always thought one of the saddest sights in the world is a dropped cornet or icelolly, slowly melting into the pavement. Even if you can't see the child who dropped it.

Nett my mum could and did do this to me for years.

We'd spot a bear in a shop window or on a shelf and she would say "did you see that lonely bear...he was looking at you."

That would be it but I'd have to sneak in and buy the bloody thing because it was lonely and looking at me. She knew I couldn't leave one without feeling guilty for the rest of my life days.
