His girlfriend has an ear infection. She has been to the walk in clinic twice, the first time they did nothing, the second time they gave her antibiotics. These don't seem to be working. Her parents are on holiday so she is staying with us.

I took the both to A&E yesterday, but by the time they were ready it was 4pm. She is supposed to be going to a different hospital today as they didn't have the correct equipment to sort it out yesterday. They are still not ready for me to take them.

They just don't see the urgency in getting to the hospital even though I have told them the earlier we get there the earlier it can all be sorted. It's doing my head in, and to be honest I am sick of DS's girlfriend being here as she has been here since Sunday and both Sun and Mon nights she woke me up.

I have now been waiting 3 hours for them to get ready and I feel like screaming!

My 10 month old has had an ear infection for 7 days now. On Monday the gp prescribed antibiotics but he seems to be getting worse not better. His temp is peaking to 39 whenever the ibuprofen wears off. Took him back to gp yesterday who said to wait another 48 hours and call back on Friday if there's no improvement. Should I wait it out or should I just take him to the children's hospital? This doesn't seem right to me?? Poor baby. He's not eating any solids and is off his milk too (although managing to get him to drink some)

Why can't her own parents sort her out?

They are on holiday, it’s in the OP

They're probably back now, it was 10 years ago

I doubt they've been on holiday for over 10 years....

@Shims91 zombie thread. Suggest start your own for advice

I can't stand it when people say they want to 'kill' their kids.

I know it's hyperbole, but it's a horrible saying.

Noviembre · 06/10/2022 15:34

People like you clogging up A&E for a bloody earache. She's not even your kid. Let her solve her own silly whinges and stay out of the hospital. Also work on your weird anger issues as you are way too involved with their lives. Don't you have anything better to do than clutter hospital waiting rooms?

Hibernationsetting · 06/10/2022 15:37

It was 10 bloody years ago!!!!

@Noviembre The gf is 27 now and can probably solve her own silly whinges. 🙂

madasawethen · 06/10/2022 15:38

After 10 years hopefully it's sorted.
Doubt they're even together.

PS Angry with son 'cos g/f was ready but he was still in the bath!

So why didn't you leave your son behind?

Been a while since a thread this old has been dug up.

@Noviembre

This was posted in 2012.

And ear ache absolutely can be an A&E job. An untreated ear infection can cause a brain infection ffs!

Ponoka7 · 06/10/2022 15:46

@Shims91, sounds as though he needs a different combination of antibiotics. It's upto you were you think they are best coming from. If his wet nappies slow down or he goes of fluids go straight to A&E.

@Noviembre , it wasn't an earache. The GF needed ENT. She was sent there because she needed antibiotics administering with equipment that other departments don't have.

@Shims91 it’s a baby you do not ever wait it out, get to your GP or A&E

glassyspiral · 06/10/2022 15:52

Interesting it was 10 years ago. I was surprised when none of the first replies were harsh, or took issue with the wording (kill). But then one of the first responses from today did just that. I do think responses now give far less benefit of the doubt to OPs and more often include scathing judgements.

IncompleteSenten · 06/10/2022 15:54

10 years.
That's got to be a record.

Lovemusic33 · 06/10/2022 15:56

I would have taken her and left ds at home if he wasn’t ready. Poor girl is obviously very unwell, your ds was being a twat for not being ready. Hope his GF feels better soon.

Lovemusic33 · 06/10/2022 15:56

Tell them to be ready in the next 30 minutes or they'll have to make their own way there?

This. Have they heard of buses?

Mariposista · 06/10/2022 16:01

This girl is a minor so her parents need to return and take responsibility for her as she is unwell enough to need hospital treatment.

You literally get a red warning about this being a zombie thread before you post on it (and revive it and annoy everyone), why did you ignore it?
