To take bets on how late my friend will be

Disclaimer: this is a lighthearted thread started only to prevent me working myself up into an indignant rage. If he is on time I will grovel and eat my hat.

I'm supposed to be going for a nice day out with my friend to the beach. I've made a couple of amazing (if I say so myself!) baguettes and got some cokes and beers in the fridge.

He text last night to say he would be at mine at eleven this morning. But his interpretation of "eleven" is often anywhere between eleven and one. I freely admit I get really pissed off when people are late, it drives me up the wall. But I want today to a pleasant and relaxing day so I am NOT going to get stressed.

I am going to put a tenner on 11:48 with an extra fiver on receiving a text at 11:14 saying "shit - overslept, be there soon!" :) Extra disclaimer - I've only just moved back to this city and am just excited about being so close to the beach!

No, not a boyfriend, he's gay. Very good friend though and in same work as me.

Sinister - that is impressive lateness!! The bus one would have driven me INSANE!

Lol Sinister.

Fermez just interested as to which beach you were going to, as I love South Shields and would pick that over most beaches other than Tynemouth.

However I assume you are coming from further South so wouldn't head as far up as Tynemouth.

FermezLaBouche · 09/08/2012 15:50

I think it was Seaburn we were aiming for originally but I'm not sure. I LOVE Tynemouth though and wish Id had time to go there. Beach of choice would be Bamburgh or Seahouses but can't justify the money on petrol at the mo...

You've just reminded me how lovely Bamburgh and Seahouses are. I don't live in the NE any more, but every time I visit my Mum the dc want to go to the beach. I'm not sure I've ever taken them up there. Will definitely go next time.

We were at Seaburn the other day. There is parking round the back of the train restaurant, about a 5 mins walk from beach. I've never seen that one full.

FermezLaBouche · 09/08/2012 20:30

Hiya Zelda, think we've talked on the Fishnet page (how are the Rasboras??)
The train restaurant doesn't ring a bell.....maybe it wasn't Seaburn I was aiming for. I have to confess I don't know the coast so well as I'd like.
It wasn't South Shields itself that pissed me off. More a combination of the fact I knew it would be hellish to park, and I wanted to fritter money in the sodding arcade!

When I get paid I'm investing in petrol to Bamburgh! Lemon it's LOVELY there. In summer, IIRC, if you go on a Saturday, you can have fun on the beach, then go round the back of the castle and there will be a nice cricket match going on on the green. (Cool if you like cricket!)
