My stepsons mother (husbands ex wife) had her birthday recently.

I just clicked on his FB page and saw a post of hers, in which she is saying thank you to him for his present..

Fair enough, even though you would think a phone call or text would do....

But no..

She has also put a link to the retailer and the item including the cost..

(Should I put a "like" and say he was so lucky to have got it off his mate at a bargain price as it was an unwanted gift).. (halo emoticon)

Oh PLEASE do this! :) How cringey on her part!

WorraLiberty · 07/08/2012 23:19

C.r.i.n.g.e!

You could find a link to 'Knock off Nigel' Grin

BagofHolly · 07/08/2012 23:21

Ghastly. One of my now ex fb "friends" regularly posted thanks for the various bling given to her by her husband. Why she couldn't just roll across the bed and thank him personally, I don't know. What reaction did she want? "Oh he's bought you Chanel again? You must be a fantastic wife and he's clearly an excellent husband." Yawn.

squeakytoy · 07/08/2012 23:23

I have honestly never seen anyone do this sort of thing. Fair enough, say "xxx got me a lovely necklace" or "thanks for the beautiful bracelet", but to actually link to the item is just ... I dunno. words for once fail me..

BagofHolly · 07/08/2012 23:25

But squeakytoy, why thank someone so publicly??? If you live with them or are close friends then why the need to shout about it to everyone else? It's proper twattish IMO.

squeakytoy · 07/08/2012 23:26

On a more serious note, I know that my stepdaughters did not, and could not afford anything near this gift, so how must that make them feel, as there is no thanks to them for their presents, ( or a link).

OP posts:
squeakytoy · 07/08/2012 23:28

She doesnt live with him. He is an adult who lives with his partner and child. --He left home when she booted him out at the age of 14 because he didnt get on with her current bf .. there is a long history and backstory which I wont bore everyone with...

I've seen this but on a chat forum

Loads of sad women linking to jewellery sites to show the gifts they supposedly got....each one outdoing the next Grin

RichTeas · 08/08/2012 00:05

Beyond pathetic.

out2lunch · 08/08/2012 00:08

reminds me of someone i know who told me in great detail about the brand new car her husband bought her

a guilt present it turns out as a week later he left her

i agree though its v strange

MammaTJisanOlympicSumoWrestler · 08/08/2012 00:18

She wants to show the world how much he luffs her, despite her throwing him out at such a young age!

biddysmama · 08/08/2012 00:20

i have a friend thats on holiday, his mum wrote on his wall that he had to be careful (blah blah) and his gf who didnt go commented on it agreeing.... then the friend started telling the gf what he was going to do to her when he got hom... on the post his mum started.. some people have no shame lol

CrispyCod · 08/08/2012 00:24

Pathetic sad people. Enough said.

bogeyface · 08/08/2012 00:35

I think you need to drop the "stealth" from your title. And it does seem like a horrible thing to do to her DD's, quite apart from her kicking him out at 14, i wouldnt have bought her anything!

Yourefired · 08/08/2012 00:39

Vent on here, but in real life do nothing. Leave it.

EllenParsons · 08/08/2012 01:01

This is v cringey

EllenParsons · 08/08/2012 01:01

What is the item though, share the link. I am curious now!

bogeyface · 08/08/2012 01:05

Perhaps it was a sarcastic "best mum in the world" type present Wink

mercury7 · 08/08/2012 01:13

it's toe curling..along with pretty much everything else about facebook!

squeakytoy · 08/08/2012 07:29

No I wouldnt link to it, but it was an expensive item. And I wouldnt post a comment really, tempting as it is.. Grin

OP posts:
JeezyPeeps · 08/08/2012 07:33

I would be tempted to say something like 'it's lovely. It looks just like the (insert name of item here) that Sylvia bought down the market for a tenner.

Thumbwitch · 08/08/2012 07:37

I wouldn't drop him in it, tbh - he might not thank you!

And while I think what she's done it crass, I do think that sometimes when you find a pic of what you've been given, the only link is on the seller's site. Of course, most people can work out how to link to just the pic but she might be one of the dimmer less techno-savvy ones. [benefitodthedoubt]

squeakytoy · 08/08/2012 07:41

Oh she is very techno-savvy.. but why not take a photo of the item while wearing it.. I am sure that is what most people would do!

OP posts:
Thumbwitch · 08/08/2012 07:49

um, well I probably wouldn't in fairness, if I can link to it on t' internet - too lazy! Blush However, I would try to avoid including the price cos that really is crass. UNless it was super-low and bargainalicious!

SoleSource · 08/08/2012 08:42

Your SS will not thank you for that. It is his Mother.
