To have as my main goal in life at the moment learning to ride my bike with no hands?

I managed a good 40 yards this evening before I wobbled and scared myself silly! Grin

Yes, single speed, no freewheel. If the wheels are turning, you're pedalling!

lovebunny · 07/08/2012 21:42

a little while ago, when i was 52, i remembered that as a toddler, i liked sliding down the stairs on my bum. so i gave it a go. its ok. try it.

GaryTankCommander · 07/08/2012 21:42

Yes that's it... So when you went down a very steep hill you had to take your feet off the pedals and stick them out.

Oh you've given me some find memories, I want to go out on my bike now.

Hmm Knittingmamma Hmm Is that you I see setting up video cameras on the path I have been practicing on? Not falling for that one. You will have to pick another way of earning your £250 from You've Been Framed.Grin

Actually that's all the rage now (isn't it?) filming yourself doing stunts and uploading onto you tube! Do you own a skateboard?

NaturalWinningNaturesTeamGB · 07/08/2012 22:12

Can you get off whilst moving and not fall over Grin

Or going really fast then pulling the front brakes and sliding the back wheel forwards?

Have fun, cyclings great, avoid trees at all costs though my nemesis

Is this what they mean by Inspire a Generation?

forcookssake · 07/08/2012 22:22

Brilliant! You are def. NBU.

From a 31 year old woman with proper grown-up job Wink

p.s. - were you in any way motivated to try this after watching Meg Ryan in the final scenes of City of Angels as she cycles down hill, arms outstretched, head tipped back and eyes shut? I was, and the first time I managed it I was more shocked at not ending up in a pile on the tarmac, but the glee followed soon after!

ivykaty44 · 07/08/2012 22:25

I used to be able to ride a bike without holding the handlebars - I could eat and things. I tried it recently and I can still do it - but not quite so well
