in thinking a 15 month old will not sit through/understand/enjoy a pantomime?

and neither will I with a wriggling/crying tot on my knee?

I may say yes (DH's family wanted baby to go to one last year at 5 months - but we didn't go) to a daytime performance but I really don't think I can cope with a show which starts at bedtime.

The other GC in the family are much older so enjoy it ... although I think the grumpy teen may not this year Grin and I don't blame her! :)

FWIW - DC doesn't even like cuddles that much :( so there is no way on earth will sit still for 1 hour plus

And if I had paid good money to take my kids to a show ... I wouldnt be very impressed if someone brought a baby that was making a noise and the parents were squeezing out of the row every 5 minutes!

Thoughts?

Mine wouldn't have!

ScarletLadyOfTheNight01 · 07/08/2012 12:13

I wouldn't take my DD at 20 months, I doubt she'd sit still for that long and would get bored.

JollyHockeyStick · 07/08/2012 12:22

Ds would not sit still for this. He's 15 months now.

I wouldn't take him yet. Won't be taking him this Christmas either but we might go to some things next summer, when he'll be 2.3.

baileyslover · 07/08/2012 12:26

Totally agree. DS is 20months and won't sit still for at length of time unless being fed constantly. Plus I would be miffed if I had paid for tickets, then had a restless toddler near me. HTH

No, would be a nightmare!!

gallifrey · 07/08/2012 12:28

Mine certainly wouldn't!

sue52 · 07/08/2012 12:34

No, the baby wouldn't get anything out of it and might spoil the enjoyment of those around you. I'd wait till he was about 3.

Pascha · 07/08/2012 12:36

God no! I vetoed the Gruffalo live for this very reason.

Themumsnot · 07/08/2012 12:38

I think three is the bare minimum age that any of mine would have tolerated this sort of thing. I took DD1 to the Royal Ballet to see The Nutcracker when she was four and she had to go to the loo just as the Sugar Plum Fairy started her solo.

ahopskipandafurryone · 07/08/2012 12:39

I have a 15 month old, I'd take him to a pantomine provided it lasted for no longer than about 5 minutes Grin

Arabellasmella · 07/08/2012 12:43

I don't think the child would get anything out of it and you would be stressed. 6 and 4 were the ages mine started to really enjoy pantos/

olibeansmummy · 07/08/2012 14:19

Ds loved musicals/ shows at that age, he was and still is mesmerised, but it totally depends on the child and you know your ds best!

MadameCupcake · 07/08/2012 14:31

YANBU - Totally agree.

My DSs loved kids shows or shorter musicals when they were toddlers but pantomimes are sooooo long with a lot of it aimed at adults so really not that exciting.

I think 4 is about the youngest age for pantos to really enjoy them.

And YES I would be very annoyed if a baby ruined a show for me - they are very expensive!!!

It is actually nice to hear a thread this way round as usually people on here say you should be able to take the kids anywhere, its noone elses business etc etc. Nice to hear considerate people!
