Sending DD to nursery when I'm on holiday?

I work at a primary school. Money is very, very tight at the moment for a whole load of reasons and an unexpected bill yesterday has pushed us close to the edge.

WIBU to send DD to nursery so she can eat Blush

They do delicious food at the nursery, real home-cooking, and there she can enjoy home cooked cottage pie and macaroni cheese and veggie lasagne as well as cereal in the morning and fruit as a snack.

She can then have a snack tea with me in the evening - for a full day session it's three meals plus snacks and I've paid for it anyway! I do feel guilty though!

It's fine
You've paid for it so you may as well use it!!
While she's there perhaps you can eBay stuff?

Perfectly fine idea :) don't feel guilty

I send DD to nursery and I don't work!! I think that, yes, the food will do her good but so will keeping the routine for her and it will do her good. You've paid for it - you are struggling for money and that would be throwing good money away. She will enjoy it and you need the rest if you work in a school!

BlackholesAndRevelations · 07/08/2012 09:53

Hell yes! Send her, especially if you've paid! I'm a teacher on hols too and mine are going a day a week.

MorrisZapp · 07/08/2012 09:53

This wouldn't even be a question in our house.

Send. Them. In.

TeapotsInJune · 07/08/2012 09:56

She's only 1 you see and I work full time - didn't anticipate sending her full time so young but it was just how it went.

Oh well, she'll be well fed at any rate!

I'm having a month off between ending work and starting university and DS will certainly be going to his pre paid nursery days then! I need a break, I have lots to do before I start and I just want some time to myself. Nothing wrong with that!

poopnscoop · 07/08/2012 11:17

Absolutely!

Children like routine and I think it would do your child good to go to nursery. If you don't send your child to nursery then you will have to go through the whole "settling in" routine again when you start work again in september.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 07/08/2012 11:22

God yeah, you've paid so send her.

Yes Ebay is def the way to go,.....you would be surprised the things people buy and at least whilst she is at nursery you will have the time to do it.

I hope things improve for you soon.

I am exactly the same - feel guilty about sending mine to nursery however its part of her routine and I have done so much sorting out and cleaning. Also bought a cheap sandpit and wendy house on ebay. They do eat better at nursery and meet all their friends. Keep wishing I could be at nursery rather than work !!

MushroomSoup · 07/08/2012 13:53

I kept sending my little one to nursery when I was off in the summer (teacher too). It meant the days we had together were very special.
I wish I could still send them!!!
