... After false starting.

I believe in rehabilitation, I really do, but not for drug cheats in the Olympics.

clemetteattlee · 05/08/2012 22:05

And then he was banned from the Olympics...

clemetteattlee · 05/08/2012 22:05

I mean Christie.

Christine tested negative during the period that she also missed tests.

clemetteattlee · 05/08/2012 22:08

And Modahl's case changed the way that athletes are tested ... For the better. The IAAF said of her case "we can no longer trust the testers"

OP posts:
ObviouslyItsTheOlympics · 05/08/2012 22:13

So on one side we have Ohorogu and Modahl. On the other we have Gatlin, Chambers and..... Marion Jones.

clemetteattlee · 05/08/2012 22:16

Seeing Chambers makes me really sad. I used to be a MASSIVE fan.

GetOrfMoiRing · 05/08/2012 22:16

I don't think Bolt is cocky. I love the expressions and acting up. Mind you he can be cocky. He is brilliant.

I am so pleased Jamaica getting the gold and silver.

And Bailey is a beauty.

JumpingThroughHoops · 05/08/2012 22:18

Chambers too someone elses place .... we can only applaud that he is too old to appear again.

Chamber also deprived clean athletes of their medals when testing positive after the relay, he's a just a no-mark in my book

WinkyWinkola · 05/08/2012 22:19

Bolt can be as cocky as he likes. Fastest man ever. Incredible.

WorraLiberty · 05/08/2012 22:25

I wouldn't like Bolt if he was cocky just cos he's an incredible athlete

I think it takes a bigger person to be humble in victory

But I love the 'showman' in him...I think he's funny.

GetOrfMoiRing · 05/08/2012 22:27

I think he is funny as well.

He was very gracious about how good Blake is when interviewed as well.

clemetteattlee · 05/08/2012 22:46

He is amazing Grin

OP posts:
noddyholder · 05/08/2012 22:47

Blake swoon!!!!!

50shadesofslapntickle · 05/08/2012 22:49

Bolt deserves all his success - so what if he is a bit cocky? He does it Tongue in cheek always, he is very likeable.

CeliaFate · 05/08/2012 23:06

I thought the commentators' reaction to Gatlin's bronze, coupled with the picture of him totally alone, said it all.
All he'll be remembered for is cheating. Very sad, when he clearly has the ability to do it drug-free.

piedaterre · 05/08/2012 23:14

Hurrah for Bolt and love his swagger. There's something very endearing about it.
Can't ever cheer for anyone who tested positive - or "missed tests" (three? now come on....) unfortunately.

FreudianSlipper · 05/08/2012 23:32

i love Bolt not only an amazing athlete but charismatic too he is not cocky he plays up to the attention he gets being the fastest man on earth great showman

he is never rude, he is gracious in defet a great olympic champion was so pleased he won

once being banned for drugs i feel you should get a second chance but twice seems so unfair

JumpingThroughHoops · 05/08/2012 23:38

There should be no second chance for being a cheat.

Chambers cost his clean team mates ( Darren Campbell, Marlon Devonish and Christian Malcolm) their medals. He should never have been allowed back and his previous Olympic ban should have stood.

GetOrfMoiRing · 05/08/2012 23:40

He is endearing - I really love his ways, even though he is a grown man he looks like a big kid.

After never caring for sports in any way I haven't moved from the telly in days and have found all kinds of heroes to admire. I feel ashamed for being so uninterested in the Olympics before they started.

tethersphotofinish · 05/08/2012 23:54

I think they should make performance enhancing drugs mandatory.

Hey Presto! A level playing field.

Save money on drug testing and find out who the fastest person really is.

clemetteattlee · 06/08/2012 07:18

I could be the fastest person with tonnes of drugs ... Or perhaps not!

OP posts:
WinkyWinkola · 06/08/2012 07:44

I would like to see an alternative Olympics where the athletes can take as many enhancements as they like. Imagine the results?!?!

Gigondas · 06/08/2012 07:50

I think Michael Johnson said something on Saturday about not being that keen on Gatlin cos he lacked remorse.

FredFredGeorge · 06/08/2012 08:41

Yohan Blake is also a convicted drug cheat and completely unrepentant - why all the bile directed at Gatlin and positive cheering for the Jamaican?

FredFredGeorge · 06/08/2012 08:43

Missing tests is exactly the same btw! You don't have drugs in you when you're competing, you have drugs in you whilst training and if you get unlucky and are tested on those days you can get caught - or you can avoid the test on the days you know you'll get caught and be safe. It's why missed tests are punished highly.

Remember all the athletes who have admitted taking drugs throughout their careers and not once caught, e.g. Marion Jones.
