They are all paid out of compulsory TV license fee. And the enormous salaries should be made public

I say this as an admirer of the BBC for many years

BBC salaries are published.

Tee2072 · 05/08/2012 15:26

I was gonna say, I thought they were published?

EdithWeston · 05/08/2012 15:28

Look here.

TidyDancer · 05/08/2012 15:29

Well you could argue the same for council workers.

And yes, BBC salaries are published.

PrincessOfChina · 05/08/2012 15:29

Depends. Are other public service salaries published?

If they are, then i see nothing wrong with publishing the pay scales at the BBC too as its a similar institution.

Sparks1 · 05/08/2012 15:31

I'd far rather ALL NHS salaries were published...

JumpingThroughHoops · 05/08/2012 15:31

Public sector pay scales are published too.

I'm not looking up anything else for the OP, yesterday she has us running round in circles because she's a writer, apparently, one with a broken google!

tuckchop · 05/08/2012 15:31

Individual salaries are not published....Especially presenters.

The press knew that J Ross was on a 7 million quid contract. Transparency
please

It is widely rumoured that some part time presenters are on 4 grand a week.

Whats a nurse on 28 grand? (Published in NHS adverts) I mean 28 grand a year

OP posts:
tuckchop · 05/08/2012 15:35

BBC salariesfor presenters are paid out of our money. HMG set the BBC money.
And did the Mail say presenters were on a tax dodge. (Like Jimmy Carr)

tuckchop · 05/08/2012 15:37

Lets have a retired BBC presenter on under a screen name to tell us the score.

Come on you can do it

TalkinPeace2 · 05/08/2012 15:39

At what level do you stop publicising salaries?
Because if people found out how LITTLE many voices on radio were paid they would be REALLY shocked....

tuckchop · 05/08/2012 15:45

All national presenters are thought to be paid a fortune.

Local radio is different.

OP posts:
tuckchop · 05/08/2012 15:47

Of course TV presenters are paid much more than radio. Wogan was said to be on 700 grand a year on Radio 2

OP posts:
msrisotto · 05/08/2012 15:49

What would you do with the information?

I think what one earns is private personally.

Denise34 · 05/08/2012 15:49

All public sector pay should be made available to the public, including expenses.

OddBoots · 05/08/2012 15:50

dh is a (soon to leaving) senior IT engineer, his salary was relatively low compared to other London IT jobs.

tuckchop · 05/08/2012 15:50

Doctors salaries are published JUDGES too. MPs and Ministers

It is the BBC presenter radio and tv who are the exception

OP posts:
TalkinPeace2 · 05/08/2012 15:52

Do you know what the fee to contestants on Radio 4 quiz shows like the News Quiz is ?

I was shocked when I found out - bearing in mind they are all well known names .....

£60 - yup, sixty pounds.

Toksvig gets more but not much.

JumpingThroughHoops · 05/08/2012 15:55

I'm not really interested TBH. Mmarket forces dictate what people are paid.

BBC can pay X million to X Celeb if they so wish. If they dont, X celeb will go to Sky or ITC.

slaps self for engaging after yesterdays round of the bizarre

Bombus · 05/08/2012 15:55

I used to work for the BBC and certainly wouldn't call my £9,000 starting salary enormous.

tuckchop · 05/08/2012 15:56

Peace I am talking about contracted Presenters the NEWS QUIZ is a sort of game

£60 for 2 hours work so-called. Who in the reall world gets 30 quid an hour?

Bignames would do the News quiz for nowt. Its a blast. You have to take a few insults; but its not a job

OP posts:
tuckchop · 05/08/2012 15:58

Bombus. I am talking about contracted presenters ON thousands of pounds a week. Have a care

OP posts:
msrisotto · 05/08/2012 15:59

Well, it's industry standard pay!
