To ask my mum to have my dog for 6 months

I'm 26 and still live at home. My DP of 4 years owns his flat. We want to move in together but need a house with a garden for my dog. We are about 7k off the money we would need to afford the deposit for a house. We have worked out that if I moved in to the flat for 6 months, we could live off DP's wages and save all of mine which would give us the money we would need. Do you think IABU to ask my mum to have my dog for me during this time? It wouldn't cost her any money and she looked after her for the 4 years when I was at uni and loves her. I don't want to leave her but it's the only way I can see us being able to afford a house any time soon.

No she's a crossbreed and only 6kg so not a big bouncy dog. She already has health problems but she is on medication and a special diet and isn't high maintenance. Will have to think of another solution.

Sorry to hear your Mum said no (which I think is unreasonable, as it would only be for 6 months more and she bought dog in first place, but that opinion doesn't help you much).
As you work in Vets, is there any way you could take dog to work with you and therefore move into bf flat for the 6 months?

Hope a happy solution is found for you

Is it possible that this isn't about your DM wanting the dog but about her not wanting you to move in with your DP?

I can take my dog to work with my but bf is reluctant to have her in the flat as although he owns it, the lease says no dogs.

As for my mum not wanting my to move in with bf, she really likes him and is always going on about us getting married and having kids. I am feeling more and more pissed off today as I only came back to live at home after uni as my mum said she couldn't afford the mortgage without me paying rent. Now she has paid off her mortgage I can't move out because she won't do me a favour. Grrrr!
