Shes sat watching tv happily

What do you guys get upto whilst LOs entertain themselves? (other than go on mumsnet obviously)

And before I get slated we've already been out together this morning so having a bit of down time now

I clean up, go on Mumsnet, do some blogging etc. It can be boring and sometimes there is just nothing to do but I like those quiet times as other times it's all so full on.

Olympia2012 · 04/08/2012 14:48

I was going to ask who is LO!?

Well as my dc are older I just get on with life. And watching the olympics

cheekypickle · 04/08/2012 14:49

I'm never bored, I just don't get bored. I cook, clean, sew, MN, phone calls, read...

iamme43 · 04/08/2012 14:51

Boring people get bored...............

cheekypickle · 04/08/2012 14:55

I must be very boring then as I'm terribly bored!

Treasure this moment and have some tea or coffee and a slice of cake.

Peevish · 04/08/2012 14:57

Not helpful, cheeky, and I realise not a reasinable expectation, but I'd love it if my four month old baby would occasionally amuse himself for a bit! I adore him, and love playing with him, but I'm on my own with him thirteen hours a day, six days a week at the moment, and he's not one of life's nappers, and I LONG for half an hour with a book...

Read, for heaven's sake, if you have the chance, and think of me while you're doing it! Grin

valiumredhead · 04/08/2012 14:59

My ds wasn't interested in TV until he was 2.5!! even though I tempted him with Tellietubbies and other God awful shite

AgentZigzag · 04/08/2012 15:00

'Boring people get bored...............'

That's something adults say to children, not to another adult Hmm

It can be a bit mind numbing at times, but it's usually more to do with not having the motivation to find anything interesting.

So it's life that can be dull sometimes rather than the DC specifically.

cheekypickle · 04/08/2012 15:01

Of course she's not boring she great fun.

Sometimes she just wants to do her own thing whilst I'm there to oversee.

Might get a book out

valiumredhead · 04/08/2012 15:03

Can't you go out and leave her with dh for a bit?

cheekypickle · 04/08/2012 15:04

He's having a nap !

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 04/08/2012 15:04

Get him up and do something nice together!

Lucyellensmum99 · 04/08/2012 15:10

or go to bed with him and do something nice together ;)

cheekypickle · 04/08/2012 15:11

Not worth the hassle. We had a nice morning together

Book is a great idea. I just downloaded loads of freebies for my kindle.

valiumredhead · 04/08/2012 15:18

I have to say that I WOULD get bored if I was left on my own while my dh had a 5 hour nap every weekend I don't think that's fair at all.

cheekypickle · 04/08/2012 15:21

3 hours this afternoon!

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 04/08/2012 15:23

Why does he nap so long? I know you said he gets up early with your dd as you need a bit of time to get going but he shouldn't need a 3 hour nap!

icecold · 04/08/2012 15:26

I aspire to boredom- ways got too much to do

cheekypickle · 04/08/2012 15:27

I don't know. I've changed medication and have been getting up only 1 hour after DD wakes up. He's always had naps, I think he has just got into the habit of it. I'd rather he was downstairs with DD and I

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 04/08/2012 15:29

I think you need to have serious words, it sounds like he is just opting out of normal family life. I can't think of any parent how takes themselves off to bed every weekend.

Glad your new meds are working - that's really positive :)

cheekypickle · 04/08/2012 15:31

Thanks I feel much better.

I think he'll argue that he gets up every day with her, which is fair enough I supoose

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 04/08/2012 15:36

What time does he get up with her? Today was only an hour earlier than you - that isn't fair enough at all. I think you get a bum deal wrt his naps!
