I've endured enjoyed many an hour watching PR with DS. It's all very comedy monsters so not too scary and seems to focus on the morals of teamwork, friendship and doing what's right. Never a bad lesson for a child really.

threesocksmorganwinsgold · 03/08/2012 22:58

won't hurt him.
ds loved them. and he is 20 and not a thug (obviously I mean he loved them when he was small)

BonkeySaysTeamGBAreTheMollocks · 03/08/2012 23:00

My ds is 4. He loves it.

So funny to watch his 'power ranger moves' Grin

not so funny when you get caught doing them with him Blush

CrapBag · 03/08/2012 23:10

Personally I don't let my DS because he copies EVERYTHING he sees and he would probably try and kick me or DD or something.

Just the other day he declared that he was a gymnast and was doing all manner of attemps whilst launching himself around the room. I really did think I was going to end up in A & E. Grin

Purpleprickles · 03/08/2012 23:12

Another one suffering power rangers here with a 3 nearly 4yr old ds here. I think it's all just a natural phase. I'm trying to get him into Thundercats now though because I'm so bored of PR Smile

NagooingForGold · 03/08/2012 23:14

DS LOVES it.

I admit I have had issues where he, to be blunt, became a fighty bastard.

But I made him have a week off, and then 'earn' it back, being good. and now he asks to watch it, and we ration it, and I get him to behave himself with a Ranger Reward.

'can I watch telly?'
'Yes'
'Even Power Rangers?'
Grin

I cut off Power rangers when oldest Ds was 5 and he tried to drop kick the newborn baby who was sleeping in his bouncy cradle. I think my heart stopped and it all went into slow motion he was so close to making contact.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 03/08/2012 23:41

Don't start with Power Rangers. Honestly, it's awful. There are endless series, the acting is appalling, you have to watch it again and again and again.

Boy is nearly 6 and doesn't want to watch anything else at the moment. I'm hoping he'll get bored of it.

Not worried about the fightiness, he goes to kung fu with his dad and is being trained not to kick inappropriately.

The new Thundercats is brilliant.

Oopla · 04/08/2012 00:09

Yabu. It's shite. Watch spiderman or batman instead.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 04/08/2012 00:51

I had to stop all mine watching Power Rangers - my pfb is almost 22 now, and loved it when it was first on, and then I've endured it all again with my youngest ones. I know every episode off by heart, all the words, noises, monsters by name, the lot... I can no longer bear it so have banned it Grin
That said, the very short series with K, where they all live under the dome in the future (which has no relationship with any other series that I could ever discern) had two episodes that were actually pretty deep and meaningful and made me cry Blush
Oh and my 3 youngest children are all firmly convinced that I was the yellow samurai ranger before I married daddy and had children. I have a Japanese word symbol tattoo, and I told them that the costume is in the attic at nanna's house but we haven't got to tell anyone as I was supposed to give it back Grin

mumnosGOLDisbest · 04/08/2012 00:57

Ds started watching them at 3. He is now 7 and a fab kick ass, strong martial artist. Theres far worse he could be watching! @ grown mwn dressed as teletubbies or babbling upsidasie

EndoplasmicReticulum · 04/08/2012 09:12

The current one confuses me a bit because it's called "Power Rangers SPD" - which to me is a painful condition suffered by pregnant women, no?

We're watching the original series atm via Netflix, it's so funny. DS became obsessed within the space of two episodes. I'm the pink Ranger.

rainbowinthesky · 04/08/2012 10:40

Yanbu. We endured this when ds was younger. It had no ill effect on him and now at 16 he has never hit anyone.

brightermornings · 04/08/2012 10:43

I was once going somewhere with my cousins dc's in the car and my dd in the car. I asked them what they wanted to do when they grew up:

Dd teacher
Cousin dc 1 policeman
Cousin dc 2 power ranger!!

SailorSoldier · 04/08/2012 11:24

Yanbu! Because if he ends up liking it, when he's older and can read, he might be able to enjoy the original (subtitled, of course). Super Sentai is actually hugely enjoyable compared to the American dub, imo, I never got into the Power Rangers when I was little, but as an adult I love watching SS Grin

AnneOfCleavers · 04/08/2012 11:51

I loved the original series of Power Rangers when I was a child.

The only thing I ever tried to copy was when the Pink Ranger did a high kick during one of her gymnastic routines. I ended up with my leg colliding with my face and a massive nosebleed.

QueenMaeve · 04/08/2012 12:16

I hate the fecking power rangers. With 4 ds I have been throught hem all, mystic force, spd, dino thunder, might morphin, blah, blah, blah. Now they have brainwashed my youngest, the only girl. The one I had pinned my hopes of dolls and peppa pig on, no she is just as obsessed as the boys. Shes 2.5 and flies off the edge of the couch reenacting the power rangers.

But yanbu you can't fight it just succumb.

AmberLeaf · 04/08/2012 12:28

3DSs and have been through many years of power rangers.

Lots of good morals teamwork etc.

None of my boys turned into violent ninjas due to power rangers.

Power rangers power up

valiumredhead · 04/08/2012 14:11

Ds loved PW Grin

jellybeans · 04/08/2012 17:11

YANBU Mine all watched it (DDs and DSs) and are very well behaved etc, didn't do any harm at all :) I used to quite enjoy it too Grin
