To ask which diets you have had success losing weight with?

I want to lose a small amount of weight (about 10 pounds) but get rid of my mummy tummy. I intend to do a bit of exercise when I get the chance but focus on my diet.

There are so many out there. I am thinking more along the lines of a paleo/natural food diet (Marisa Peer style) but also thinking about a low carb diet. However, I know others have had good success with Slimming World.

So, can I ask what diet has helped you lose weight and you enjoyed doing?

Also took up some minor walking ( again on basis whatever I did had to be sustainable) so got rid of car parking and now bus and walk 15-20m back and forth to work each day.

Should add ewas exhausted for first 10 days or so but then body seemed to adjust.

Slimming world with a 3.5st loss in 10 months. I loosely follow that now but am doing my fitness pal which calorie counts and I've lost 22lb so far.

I lost 4st with WW but put a stone back on, am now on The Harcombe Diet and just completed phase 1 and lost 9lbs in 5 days. I'm on to phase 2 now and find it simple and scientific. The first phase is hard as you are weaning your body off processed food and sugars (caffeine was my biggest sin) so you feel a little rough for 3-4 days but it works

Calorie counting is the only thing that works for me, it's the only thing flexible enough to fit into my life. and it is really simple, eat less calories than you use = weight loss.

I lost over 2 stone with weight watchers. I also weighed my food especially rice/potatoes which helped me realise I didn't need as much food as my eyes wanted. Lots of water and veg - I limited fruit and still enjoyed a treat and 2 glasses of wine over the weekend.

I lost 5 stone about 8 years ago by low carbing, and kept it off for 3 years, after which I got complacent and the carbs (and weight) crept back. Back on it now, and the weight's coming off again - plus I'd forgotten a) how much I enjoy this way of eating, it's not like being on a diet, I don't feel restricted, and b) how much better I feel over all - more energetic, skin and hair improved, sleeping better. The first two weeks are a bit of a struggle, but after that I find it plain sailing - and won't be getting complacent again! Lesson learned :)

Any diet will work if the total calories are below you BMR or TDEE or whatever it is.

I maintain a very low weight by eating fruit, vegetables, chicken, fish, eggs and oil for cooking.

But I lost to the same weight, a bit lower and much much lower by all of these diets:

  1. The jellybaby and marshmallow diet - used it when I was a dancer - great when you need loads of energy but can't look bloated in a leotard.
  2. Low Carb diets
  3. Fruit and Veg only diets
  4. 2-4-6-8 diets (alternate between 200 - 800 calories of anything)
  5. fasting

and lots more. As long as the calories are low the food stuff doesn't matter.

Not true for health though!

I started sw in July. Lost 3.5 stone and needs to do the same again. Love it, just have to be organised.
