OK so I'm a sad git who has a real "thing" for stationery. Been like it all my life and I don't see it changing anytime soon.
This time of year, with the shops being full of the back to school stuff is heaven for me....all those matching sets of pens and notebooks and and and STUFF!
unfortunately, neither of my children has inherited this perfectly mad rational obsession interest.

AIBU to want to have pen pots filled with lots of matching and toning pens and pencils, pretty and funky notebooks and just general stationery type STUFF in every corner handy places in the house?

In my defence, I don't smoke, rarely drink and only take prescription drugs Grin

My two closest friends (32 & 28) have an EXTREMELY unhealthy obsession with all things Paperchase - at least it makes my life easier finding birthday presents! :)

Have you ever seen Smencils? ......

My daughter is obsessed with stationery, her idea of heaven is a trip to staples, spending her savings on industrial tape dispensers,

It's not so much the "pretty" stuff she likes, but having all different things, mind you her paper clips are organised on their side in colour order,

I'm sure she only into stamp collecting because she likes the kit, and the organising, bloody expensive stuff, stamp collecting kit,

It does make stocking fillers easy, give her blue tack and mini post notes and she is happy for weeks.

Smencils?

YANBU!!!!! Years ago when I was a student, I had a job as a receptionist and part of my job was to sort out office stationery orders. I luffed it Blush. Although my boss was a bit less than impressed with my order for multicoloured pens and heart shaped post-its (when she got the bill and saw how expensive they were). She agreed they were worth it tho! Grin

I also like sewing equipment and could spend all day in a haberdashery looking at all the pins and beads and thread and stuff. And no, I cannot sew.

YANBU! I love stationery Grin

DH and I went to Rome and there were so many cartolerias, it was just beautiful

Astr0naut · 03/08/2012 13:59

I love it. ANd as I'm a teacher, I have an excuse to go and buy new every year!

However, pretty pens are soon lost when the bottom set arrive sans eqipment again.

post it notes are 'borrowed' when you're teaching miles from your room.

Pencil cases become an inconvenience, and pens and pencils are stashed in handbag - which is a twat when you change handbags to co-ordinate outfits, or when board markers leak. (Note to film makers: WHen Board Markers Leak, a niche horror film for anyone who'se ever had their clothes ruined by an errant pen.)

Notebook, if sturdy enough, stands the course.

Firstly, not preachy just trying to be helpful, its stationery

"e for envelope" is how to remember the rule!

Love it and all things habedashery - I have a cross over obsession which is all things gift wrap and I hoard paper, ribbons and cards.

Ever been into a branch of Tiger? Sort of Ikea meets Muji meets Paperchase. 15m of satin ribbon for £1!!!!!!! I bought all 12 colours! And bags of matching coloured tags! And little sets of stamps and ink pads for £3 and loads of stff for kids party bags and crafty activities. I have to restrain myself from buying the whole shop every time I go in!

TheWonderfulFanny · 04/08/2012 11:36

Where is this tiger? I adore Muji and do the odd bit of sewing... But spent this mightn't play money on a handbag. Damn.
