to not tell my boss that my hours may reduce even though I don't know my self yet?

I am hoping to start a degree this september and am currently a full time nanny, I don't know yet whether I will be accepted onto the course I've applied for (will find out in 2 weeks time).

The uni don't give the time table until late august, should I tell my employer that my course has school placements and it's likely to be quite full time during the week or should I leave it and not stress her out for no reason, she knows my hours will reduce when I'm at uni but I don't want to stress her out and then find that I haven't got in anyway.

AIBU to leave it until I find out either way?

I just feel bad that come august the 16th I will drop a child care bomb shell on her with only 6 weeks to find a possible nanny back up?

As a nanny employer I would appreciate a heads up and as much time as possible to make contingency plans

I would like as much advance notice of the possibility as possible.
I assume she has been a decent employer, in which case, it's the decent thing for you to do.

I think you should give her the information as early as possible.

These are the things that may happen. If I get in, it will mean such and such.

She needs to know worst case scenario so she can plan properly.

I did ring the uni and give her a vague outline of what my time table could be- and she seemed happy with that but I didn't tell her about the placements- yes she has been a wonderful and very kind employer so the last thing I want to do is stress her out.

If she's been great to you, then return that favour
