To think that something else is going on?

I applied for a job a few weeks a go and the closing date was Friday. I got a call late in the afternoon saying I had been shortlisted- brilliant, the interview was the following Wednesday, so short notice and they gave me a few times to choose from so I choose my time and they said I would receive an email detailing everything. I received the email on Monday morning so all well and good until monday afternoon when I get a phone call asking if I could switch to another time as there had been a mix up internally. Now I am on holiday this week and have had to come home for this interview and my DH has had to have a day off to look after DC, but that is okay as that would have been the same regardless of what time the interview was at. I have another email this morning changing the time of the appointment again and the timings of the interview test and the tasks! Is this just poor organisation or is it something else.....am I wasting my time?

If they can't even sort out an interview time, I'd be hesitant to take a job with them, to be honest.

I think that's taking the mick and yeah, I think something else is going on....I wouldn't be surprised if the job has already gone to someone in house and they are just going through the motions.

If they were that serious about hiring someone they wouldn't be messing about to this extent.

schobe · 31/07/2012 11:06

I wouldn't pre-judge it. It could be anything - possibly another candidate messing them around for times. They'll be remembered as difficult, whereas you will be remembered as accommodating and professional.

Keep an open mind.

And lol at hesitating to take a job just because of a bit of to-ing and fro-ing. We don't all have the luxury to pick and choose.

MTBMummy · 31/07/2012 11:16

I don't think there is something else going on, I've had that with previous interviews, and you just have to appear to be flexible and professional

AThingInYourLife · 31/07/2012 11:21

You don't have to appear endlessly flexible to seem professional.

Professional implies busy, so not being able or willing to be pissed about like this would fit with that.

Asking you to change an appointment once is fine (but a bit unprofessional on their part). Asking a second time makes them look like amateurs and should give you pause about the organisation.

I think I agree I really want the job for all kinds of reasons but this is giving me the heebeegeebees before I've even been there! Think I'll go for the interview and see what occurs I am imaging something out of Little Britain Grin

You'll remembered as accommodating and professional Hmm
Or desperate. Don't the interviewers have an obligation to behave professionally too?
