I started getting right leg pain a few days ago in the back of my calf, it was localised and didn't feel muscular. This has carried on and today it feels more achy and sort of numb all over my lower leg. I have been taking ibuprofen and paracetamol for last 2 days for a painful period but wonder if this was masking leg pain too as its more achy today.
My leg is not swollen or red, I can walk ok but wouldn't want to walk too far.
I'm at home with 3dc's (who are going stir crazy) and don't know whether I should get an emergency appointment at doctors tomorrow (they are full today) or ring dh and go to hosp.
Am I over reacting? I tried nhs direct but they haven't ring back yet.
I'm just sitting here stressing about it and I am generally quite chilled out!

smoking, being dehydrated, and beign immobile (be it on a plane, car, or office chair) are all risk factors for DVTs.

Not certain, but I think ibupofen can increase the risk of DVTs, so might want to avoid this if correct (check on packet).

I would go to A and E, why not?

Choca it took nearly 5 days to have mine diagnosed too! The haematologist I see now was livid when he found out, as it took them so long to scan me. He said it should have been done straight away under the circumstances as I could have ran into real difficulty if I went into labour with an undiagnosed clot.

OP let us know how you get on today. Hope things work out well for you.

Definitely a&e! My dad died from clots travelling from leg to lung and heart in May - time is of the essence and better to be safe than sorry.

I would go to A/E to be honest. I had a clot in my arm last week and the only symptom I had was very slight swelling (1cm) and pain. No heat or redness. I do have a picc line in though as I am having chemo so these both increase my risk factors, also I am fairly immobile at the moment. First dr said it wasn't a clot and promptly flushed my picc line and it was only a nurse pushed for me to have a scan which showed a clot below the line. If it had of been above the line she could very well have dislodged the clot stupid cow.

Hope you get better soon.

Sorry for delay in response, Valium, after my fracture surgery I was sent home with daily heparin injections and warfarin tablets and I still got a blood clot.

This is why the first four doctors dismissed my symptoms, apparently there was no way I could get a clot after being on medication to prevent it.

They are still having trouble raising my INR despite having been on varying doses of warfarin for four months. I am going in for further blood tests next week to see if I have any underlying problem.

This will hopefully put my mind at rest.
