And not for their costumes?

It's fast, close and really exciting! We might even win! Grin

My husband was admiring their bottoms. Hmm

They clearly did eat too many pies ;)

Phacelia · 29/07/2012 19:19

Loved it, really exciting, but my inner feminist gets disgruntled at the bikinis.

And just to be extra miserable I thought it was disappointing that one of them was chewing gum, and that they had to hug every time they scored a point. Made them look like silly 15 year old girls.

Very miserly of me, sorry. Fantastic playing, great energy from the players and the crowd and LOVED the backdrop; so breathtaking.

WorraLiberty · 29/07/2012 19:25

Are the volley ball players happy to wear them?

If so, that's all there is to it.

Many athletes make a lot of money out of modelling anyway, especially if they're attractive.

The men were very nice too Smile
and so tall.........

I really enjoyed being there this morning..very relaxed and an amazing venue.

Waterlego I've been travelling all day back from London, forgive me! Grin

They were allowed to wear shirts and shorts like the men I was told, but none of them chose to.

YouBrokeMySmoulder · 29/07/2012 19:50

Sometimes a choice isn't free though. If by choosing shirts and shorts you would be making a statement it's a hard thing to do.

It's a bad message for our children I think. That even when you achieve great things by working hard that you will still be judged on how you look.

JamieandTheOlympicTorch · 29/07/2012 20:09

I enjoy watching it, but the bikinis get on my wick. They aren't practical. I can see why you might not want to wear a Tshirt - sand down your front and all that. But tight shorts would be better.

Stinkyminkymoo · 29/07/2012 22:14

Well, outfits aside (which they don't have to wear, the team afterwards wore full body gear), I thought it was so much better than I thought it would be.

Admittedly, the music in-between was really irritating and the benny hill tune ridiculous IMO.

fwiw, if I had figures like those girls I would wear a bikini come rain or shine

The benny hill them is part of our culture, and one recognised worldwide..

YouBrokeMySmoulder · 30/07/2012 16:34

It's not part of my culture, it's part of a seventies outdated sexist culture that we don't need right now thanks. You might as well bring back the black and white minstrels and have done with it.
