to be thinking of using beef I just absentmindedly threw in the outside bin

...i.e. the nasty bin with nappies and older bin bags.

I've fished it out and it's tied really tightly in one of those small butcher's bags and there definitely aren't any holes in that bag which was at the bottom of a second bag which contained this evening's vegetable peelings and was loosely tied. It was only in there for about five minutes before I realised. I'm making a curry which will cook for four hours. AIBU to be thinking of using it.

In my defence, I'm seven months pregnant, anaemic and knackered so there are socks in the fridge, potatoes in the washing machine and my shoes are mismatched.

Also, it's worth mentioning that the beef was organic and really bloody expensive.

Yanbu just rinse it over

poorfoxyloxy · 28/07/2012 20:47

yanbu, would be wrong to let it go to waste in my opinion!! Good rinse, and cook it up!

MissPollysTrolleyed · 28/07/2012 20:47

Gosh, I really do have baby brain as it hadn't crossed my mind to rinse it Blush.

It was in a bag, so hasn´t touched any rubbish?

I´d use it.

cocoachannel · 28/07/2012 20:50

Use it!

MissPollysTrolleyed · 28/07/2012 20:53

No, it didn't touch any rubbish but my son's nappies are pretty toxic and I reckon the bacteria in his poos have superpowers after a couple of hours festering in our wheelie bin.

totty12mum · 28/07/2012 20:54

Use it!

CockyPants · 28/07/2012 20:55

BOAK.
Nappy bags plus food?
Ewwww.

LegoAcupuncture · 28/07/2012 20:56

use it, it'll be fine.

MissPollysTrolleyed · 28/07/2012 20:58

Okay, so I've washed it well under the tap and am now boiling a kettle of water to wash it again. I am going to go with the majority vote and not look back at this post again in case a whole load more dissenters come on board!

It wont kill you

diddl · 28/07/2012 21:01

Are the nappies in bags/folded & taped iyswim or just thrown in?

Either way, if the meat was in a bag, I´d still use it.

It´s going to be cooked thoroughly.

MissPollysTrolleyed · 28/07/2012 21:21

All nappies are folded and taped and the poo ones get a tightly bound nappy bag too.

ohmysilverballs · 28/07/2012 21:23

it will be fine, I used cheese that had been in the kitchen bin for hours the other day (double wrapped) and we're all still here.....

whatthewhatthebleep · 28/07/2012 21:33

no probs...go ahead...it'll be just fine

Sassybeast · 28/07/2012 21:36

Maggots.

HTH

diddl · 29/07/2012 07:51

Why would there be maggots?

Floggingmolly · 29/07/2012 12:30

There won't be any maggots! Use it, it's going to be thoroughly cooked so no bacteria, even if there is any, can survive. Bon appetit!

peeriebear · 29/07/2012 12:39

I'd use it. It hasn't actually touched anything at all has it? At least three layers of plastic between it any any pooey nappies. And it's been rinsed, and it's going to be cooked for hours.

MissPollysTrolleyed · 29/07/2012 12:45

So, my bin beef curry is cooked. It's for tea tonight but I just tasted it and it's absolutely delicious. Might post my recipe (including special nappy marinade tip) across in Recipes Grin.

I'll bet it gave it a little je ne sais quoi Smile
