Ok outraged is a bit ott but...
My friend from school has just posted on her FB status that she tried to by tickets at the Olympic park for the men's gymnastics as there were loads of empty seats and was til 'no' Hmm
She tried to buy them online outside the park but because her email had already been registered she couldn't buy them that way either.
So far from what I've seen on telly , there have been plenty of empty seats on both the gymnastics and the swimming events .
Surely if she wants to buy them and there are seats left she should be able to

Don't blame you Raven!

However, the news made it sound like the plan was to release empty seats to teachers and pupils, like now (not arranged previously as you indicated) which I couldn't understand. hard enough to arrange such a trip in term time, never mind when everyone has dispersed for the holidays.

Ah I see! No, the logistics of that wouldn't work for us.

I suppose in theory, a dead keen staff member could post it on the school's VLE (website thingy - a bit like a 'just for the school' Facebook in this context) but you'd never organise the permission slips & risk assessment gubbins in time, i shouldn't think.

Exactly. The logistics would just not add up. It was making me quite cross when they kept saying it on the news. Confused

Anyone as mad as me and still up all night trying to get tickets.

If I see any empty seats for athletics events I might just pop my clogs!

Pedallleur · 01/08/2012 10:31

Of course there will be empty seats. It's up to the IOC and sponsors whether the public can have them (prob.not)

JugglingWithFiveRings · 01/08/2012 22:17

Good luck to you jagger and anyone else here still chasing those elusive tickets. We went to the volleyball yesterday and it was great to feel part of the Olympics - hope the DC's will remember it in future years too. Whilst watching the cycling on TV today though I thought I'd suggest here that folks could think about going along and watching some things you don't need a ticket for. Presumably no ticket was needed today to see Wiggins cycling through Kingston ? Perhaps there will be other similar opportunities to look out for, such as long distance running/ marathon/ triathlon events. Just a thought !

mirry2 · 01/08/2012 22:22

I saw people sitting ion Voictoria Park watching a big screen. Do you need tickets for that. It looked like there was a great atmosphere

OhYouGreatGreatBritain · 01/08/2012 22:26

I'll echo juggling. We watched the cycling at the weekend and there was a brilliant atmosphere.
There's the women's marathon this Sunday and the men's the week after.

JugglingWithFiveRings · 01/08/2012 22:32

In fact I just googled my idea under "opportunities to see olympic events for free" and it came up with a great site entitled "Olympics 2012" with "cyclingfitness" Hope you can find it with my cryptic clues Grin (sorry I can't link) But some good articles available on this subject - looks like triathlon and marathon definitely upcoming events to consider Smile
