And if in one family you park two 2012 plate cars (audi and bmw) in a sea front car park that's a mere £4.50 (which in my tight arse opinions pretty good) for a whole day in peak season and choose not to pay parking and you get a fine, he is not a cunt and your in fact a bit of a twat!

And using "well I've not had a ticket all day but you ticket me as I'm going home what's the point" is not a good defence.

YABU. You fail to understand the most fundamental rule of motoring. It's called "Survival of the Shiniest". Rules include:

Current year vehicles can park wherever they want as it is a privilege for the owner of the space to host them.

Certain models of car (to wit: the most expensive) are exempt from stopping at traffic lights or pedestrian crossings.

The car with the largest engine has the right of way at junctions, closely followed by the car with the shiniest paint. Special concessions can however be made for smaller, older vehicles provided they have customised paint jobs and are driving really fast.

YANBU

i have had parking tickets twice.
once: i wasn't at fault because the ticket had fallen over, so the attendant couldn't see the ticket front, so I appealed that one.

the second was most annoying. The car park used to be free on a sunday, so I parked there. then it was charged on a sunday, but randomly and without notice, so one day (after about 6 weeks parking elsewhere), I parked there and didn't even think to look if they were now charging. So I got a ticket and paid it. I always look now, even if I know that the car park was free. annoyingly, i think people had complained because about a month later it was no longer charging on a sunday.

I read a very sad comment a while ago that if you are labouring under the impression that the British middle classes aren't racist you should shadow a Nigerian traffic warden for a day. They do get the most dreadful abuse.

That's what's called a "double whammy", Dilys.
