DS isn't going to catch anything really awful, is he?

Went on the Emirate Airline today, which is lovely BTW. On the North side, there is a little beach on the edge of Victoria Dock, so we went and had a paddle, and then DS slipped and fell into a patch of river mud/silt. I cleaned him up with bottled water and took him home (ponging all the way) but had to tell him about three times to take his hand out of his mouth: is he going to get typhoid or leptospirosis or something and should I be on the steps of the walk-in tomorrow morning for vaccinations?

How old is he?

FallenCaryatid · 26/07/2012 20:57

He should be fine, my DS is a kayaker and is often dripping with silt and smelling like an evolutionary dead end. Never caught anything nasty from the rivers and lakes.
How old is your DS?
Keep an eye on his temperature, nausea and any odd rashes. Very unlikely there will be a problem though.

How can anyone here possibly know?

ClaireRacing · 26/07/2012 21:01

A kayaker will be very aware of Weil's Syndrome.

We can't, although given the location, some enterprising MNetter could nip down and test a sample.

'A kayaker will be very aware of Weil's Syndrome.'

Yup, and tetanus hazards and gastroentritis and e coli and otitis externa. That's before we get to cholera and typhoid.
Would you take a child to be blood-tested before any symptoms of anything showed?
