I've recently started (first day today) a 2nd part time job in a supermarket to supplement our income. As the store I'll be working in isn't set up yet I'm training in a store really close to home.
Anyways, the manager at my new store has called me in for a meeting and offered me a team leader position at the store I'm training in. This is 12 weeks training then 24 hour contract. Which is fine.
However, I had an mc in June and do at the moment dh and I are actively TTC. I get really sick during pregnancy for around 3 weeks and during last pregnancy was hospitalised.
AIBU to accept it knowing I'll hopefully be pregnant within 3 months then probably will be off sick at some point and then going on mat leave?

I know what u mean minshu, although because I had her at 21 very few of my friends have dcs. However a close friend was due 3 days after me and getting her bump etc.
I like the responses I've been getting so will show my manager this breed before declaring I'm buggaring off for nine months!

Young women, just like everyone else - but particularly so in our unequal patriarchal society, should do whatever is in their best interests !

My dd took 10 cycles, and is getting on for 3 now. At least I have her, but it seems just about everyone I met when she was tiny has had their second by now. And I'm getting old... 14 years older than you :(

Oops - didn't mean to post the same thing again Blush

I'm with Euphemia - by proposition I though you meant they were offering all sorts of interesting services! Wink Seriously though if you aren't pregnant yet there's no reason to turn down the promotion - could take months and months for you to get pregnant, you just don't know. Also you could keep fingers crossed about the hyperemesis - it seems quite random, you might get lucky next time round and avoid it.

Haylebop12 · 27/07/2012 12:30

Haha!
I always keep my fingers crossed about the sickness but for some reason it just likes to hit me hard. I've asked my manager to progress with it and do will have a meeting with my new manager and see if he likes me! As ive never met him!
Thanks guys, I'll buy you all a drink with my pay rise! Lol

good luck with new job and ttc, mines a rose please Wine

Take the job - it will be 6 months before you even qualify for statutory so potentially you won't cost them a penny apart from the inconvenience factor of finding a replacement.

BartletForAmerica · 27/07/2012 17:45

lacroix isn't quite right. You will be fine for SMP. You need to have worked for 26 weeks by the time you are 25 weeks pregnant, so as long as you are not pregnant right now, you will be entitled to it.

Thanks guys, fortunately I'm not pregnant yet... And smp wouldn't be far off my weekly wage anyway so I've asked then to progress with it :-)
