For paying DH (to be) £20 to monopolise his bath!

Was planning on seeing DH2b tonight after a long shift building cars. He txt me to say 'going out with a mate whose long term girlfriend has just walked out- let me know when you are in the area'

AIBU to have thought..
Ok your mate needs you a bit more than I do tonight so here's £20 to have a drink with him. Didn't think it would be nice of DH2b to have to cut short the drink( presumably whilst said mate is pouring heart out) to say 'I'm off gotta see t'wife"

I am now luxuriating in his bath, MN'ing in peace with bowl of delish pasta.

People at work have said I'm a mug and 'ooh wait til you've been married awhile'

He had his mates before we met. So did I
We intend to keep them!

So AIBU?

Well, sorry to break up the love-fest, but your OP sounds a bit wierd and try-hard, and the cooing responses are a bit vom-inducing. How can anyone say your marriage is going to last, or that you are a lovely person, based on this scrap of nothing?

Personally I would think hard before I married a man who didn't have twenty quid of his own in his pocket. But heigh ho.

TeaOneSugar · 26/07/2012 07:20

Money was tight for us in the run up to the wedding.

imnotmymum · 26/07/2012 08:04

Do you know with that start you will be married forever ! Congrats !!

3duracellbunnies · 26/07/2012 08:22

Encouraging them to have one night off a week is essential imho so that once you have children, guess what, you are due a night off a week too. Doesn't always work when they are tiny, but after a while it is nice to get out with some friends knowing dh is at home holding the fort!

samandi · 26/07/2012 08:31

Eating pasta while on the computer in the bath doesn't sound particularly relaxing to me, but each to their own.

bogeyface · 26/07/2012 10:09

Well Drucilla I would think twice about marrying someone who got snotty about subbing me £20 the week before pay day so I could see my friend.

BrevilleTron · 26/07/2012 11:46

My money is our money and whilst I may be a bit try hard that's just me. I'm looking forward to the marriage not just the wedding. I also earn twice as much as DH2b. He did have cash on him I just wanted to give him a bit more as I know when his mate gets paid as we all used to work together. This was meant to be a lighthearted aibu

Sadly we will be living in crap bath house and DD gave me the weird bath stuff.

Also we are doing the wedding on a budget. The wedding car is parked outside my house and I'm about to get in it to drive to work and my dress is an ex sample dress.
We didn't want it to cost thousands as we have to live in the meantime.
