FUCK!!! I've just noticed this morning that I've gone a whole month without having to take pain-killers for my back (Sciatica and other problems) and what do I go and do? Literally snap myself in half whilst transferring my DD form my hip to the floor...I can't fucking move...it HURTS so fucking much

Sorry to swear but it's so frustrating...I'm also out of strong painkillers (haven't needed a repeat prescription) and can't get any until tomorrow so I'm now sofa bound with a demanding toddler...

Needed to rant...any other ladies with Sciatica...any tips?

Ooooh bollocks, my DD needs to go up for her nap now and the thought of lifting her into her cot is making me cry.

yoga and swimming sorted mine out..

Did you have to do modified yoga? I did Pilates for a while and that was quite good, but some of the exercises had to be modified a bit.

Accupuncture worked wonders for me; sciatica better after just one accupuncture session with a physio, having suffered for a couple of years.

Chiropractor does wonders with my back.

I hope you're not really literally snapped in half because you should probably seek medical attention instead of MNing. My sympathies to you OP, I've only ever done my back in once but it was bloody agonising Sad

ScarletLadyOfTheNight01 · 25/07/2012 10:51

Hahaa...not literally picnicbasketcase, but thanks for the concern Grin

I can't afford private treatment, so I think I'm going to have to give my doctor a kick up the arse. I've suffered on and off with my back since I was 17 (now 28) and I've had doctors basically tell me it's impossible for someone my age to have the problems I do. I've had MRI scans and blood tests and nothing shows up, I just wish it would bloody go away.

Sciatica is the work of the devil!!!! Lol. I started with it when I was pregnant (my boy is 4 now) I don't take painkillers because they frighten me Blush. I have a very addictive personality and don't fancy getting hooked. The majority of the time I am fine but when it hits it is agonising! My GP referred me for physio, after the first doctor I saw said it's tough, live with it, nothing will get rid of sciatica. I'd get on google and research remedies while you're laid up. Hope it's better soon, I have every sympathy for you!!

whathaveiforgottentoday · 25/07/2012 12:48

Many sympathies to you. I had an op last year on my back and the pain is much better (but not gone completely). However, I would recommend Pilates and a good osteopath/chiropractor.

I'd keep well away from chiropractors if recent reports are anything to go by.

My Chiro did wonders for my lower back and shoulder.
Then last year he managed to damage a rib, I couldn't exercise for nearly a month. Now a year later I have only seen him once. He was gentle and fixed my neck, but I've been doing more yoga and that is keeping things from tightening up and getting painful, it's good for butt cheeks too Blush Now who doesn't want a yoga butt?

ScarletLadyOfTheNight01 · 25/07/2012 16:06

I know a few yoga positions which I use to relax, but I can't afford classes. Can anyone recommend a good DVD or something? I have a brilliant Calanetics one, but it's not ideal to do when my back's bad.

My DH had an appointment this afternoon and has taken DD with him to give me a break...so I can actually put my feet up for a bit! I've taken co-codamol and ibuprofen and it's done sweet FA >_
