Haircut hang about

In hairdressers today and there was a lady's itch her must've been 18 month old sat in a stroller.

The lady had her hair shampooed, cut and blow dried whilst her DD waited.

Am I being unreasonable or is this too long for a little one to be sitting doing nothing??

I'm pretty sure the child would have let her know in no uncertain terms if she was bored.

rubyslippers · 24/07/2012 20:57

She wasn't not doing anything

She was watching her mum

I am impressed a toddler would sit still for that long

Mine wouldn't

Was the toddler OK or were they wrecking the joint?

cheekypickle · 24/07/2012 20:59

No she was fine, sat there happily

If I thought my toddler would sit quietly in her buggy while I had a haircut, I would so definitely do this!

CaptainHetty · 24/07/2012 21:00

The child was about 18 months old.

If she were remotely bored or wanted to get out of the stroller I'm pretty sure she would have made the entire salon aware of it.

UnChartered · 24/07/2012 21:00

aw, how lovely!

JumpingThroughHoops · 24/07/2012 21:01

I have to ask, what do people do, with preschoolers, and no childcare do? walk around looking like The Wreck of the Hesparus until they can get a free hour when a child hits nursery?

I really don't see the problem if the child was happy, contented and not kicking up a fuss

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 24/07/2012 21:02

If the toddler was happily waiting I don't see a problem.

squeakytoy · 24/07/2012 21:07

There isnt any problem with it at all. If the child had been screaming and trying to get out of the buggy then fair enough, but if the child was content, then why worry?

People have to go out, and if they are SAHMs then they take their children with them when they need a hair cut usually.

If you walked to the shops, then round the shops, and then back home again, pushing a child in a buggy it would probably take as long, if not longer.

Children do not need to be entertained every waking moment you know Pickle.:)

Confused

The child was happy. What is the issue?

Sirzy · 24/07/2012 21:10

The child was happy so no problem! DS screams as soon as we enter the hairdressers so no hope of doing that with him!

NumericalMum · 24/07/2012 21:14

Envy YABU I would have adored my child to sit in her pushchair for 5 minutes without whinging

downbythewater · 24/07/2012 21:16

I've done that, have also taken the DDs to an eye test and, on one memorable occasion, a smear test. Doesn't seem to have done them any harm!

BlackholesAndRevelations · 24/07/2012 21:21

As long as they had a snack/lots of snacks/toys to play with when bored, I see no problem! She was probably fascinated by the whole thing.

KittyFane1 · 24/07/2012 21:42

The child had something to watch and listen to (in this case mum and hairdresser). If he/she was happy there's no problem!
Was it you and your DC? Has somebody moaned at you for taking them there?

RubyrooUK · 24/07/2012 21:51

Oh my god, where do I get this child? I tried to pluck my eyebrows tonight (completion time: two minutes) and my DS - 23 months - said: "mummy boring".

I took ds when he was around 9 months whilst I had my hair & beauty treatments done. He was an angel, sat giving winning smiles & had a nap. He wouldn't sit still now & he's just one.
