Am I mad for considering taking the DC's to the beach tomorrow?

Its a 2 hour journey on the train.

DC's are 11, 5 and 3. 5 yo has SN.

Would you do it?

Oh yes Debka!!

I'm working the rest of the week, but hope this weather sticks around for a while so we can do it again. It was wonderful!

Frikadellen · 24/07/2012 21:54

I would utterly do it yes a lot of negatives may happen but so will a lot of positives.

Where I live, everyone comes from the station and walks straight to the beach at the bottom of the high street which is chockablock. If they turned left, they would find an equally lovely beach but with 1/3 of the people on it but none of them seem to notice it's there (there are buildings in the way). So see if you can find a less crowded bit.

Get the 11 YO and 5YO to be responsible for something - carrying the beach equipment (buckets/spades etc) because they're bulky but not heavy or the sandwiches. My 5YO carries his own beach equipment if it's not there already.

Go early to the beach and leave early

Yes - just be very organised.

Vagaceratops · 24/07/2012 22:00

I have decided against it, just because 4 hours travelling for a day out is too much. I am so jealous of those of you that live so close.

We went to Skegness for the weekend a few weeks ago, the beach was beautiful - nothing like it used to be.

I live and work in a seaside resort, in the last two days all we have dealt with is lost kids.

It has been packed, and the people losing their kids had literally lost sight of them for ten seconds, but due to the sheer volume of people the kids got disorientated and lost.

Can 5 yr old recite his name, address? I would reccomend wrist bands with a contact number on there at least.

Good luck though!

Chandon · 24/07/2012 22:03

It's only fun with another adult, IMO, a friend, granny, auntie, brother or partner, so you can take one for a pee, whilst other adult looks after the other kids etc etc.

JumpingThroughHoops · 24/07/2012 22:04

Oh dont be put off by everyone else

exoticfruits · 25/07/2012 07:03

People are so pessimistic! The sun is shining- hope that go for it and have a lovely time!

Vagaceratops · 25/07/2012 07:09

If we lived closer we would have gone, but its too far in a hot train, and DS2 is in a funny mood.

It is a long way, hope you enjoyed whatever you did instead.
