To actually consider going to a bowling green??

DH and I have decided we don't do much together other than usual date nights once in a blue moon so are considering taking up a joint hobby. Have gone through a big list as whatever I like (wine) doesn't match his (any sport). Two I may concede on are either running or ........ Lawn bowls :-) cab be sure we would be the youngest there by 30 years but he seems to think may be fun?? Aibu to be thinking about this (at 30??!!) if I am , what do other couples do for joint hobbies, apart from the obvious :-)

I don't bowl myself, but my parents do and their club has all ages there.

Plus they have a very, very cheap bar Grin

So may be worth while applying to join a club.

Bowling is fab - I used to be a member of the village club until I went onto permanent nights.

For the three years that I was a member, the main point of the bowling was to meet up with your pals, have a good drink and throw a bowl or two. (and complain about the weather).

Booze is cheap, people are generally very friendly, it's a great sport to play against your dh; I really enjoyed it and will return once I'm off nights. (I was under 35 btw)

When I lived up north where loads of pubs had bowling greens, it was quite normal for people of any age to play, although admittedly the majority were middle aged or over.

I played though, quite well too. It is not as easy as it looks, and the first few times you ache in places you didnt know had muscles, but it is good fun.

Dds boyfriends brother is a bowls champ. He is 17.

DH has suggested going to our village club a few times but I have refused on the basis that their sign says 'Interested in bowls'.

Once they add a question mark though, I am straight in there.

Used to hang out in the park to do crown green bowling when I was in Sixth form and the local pub had a bowling green. Oh, yes, we were up North!
