to think that some people post on here to get material for articles, projects etc?

I don't know all the ins and outs of MN yet but I am right in thinking that some posts are staged deliberately to get people worked up and thus provide great material for projects or articles? I read some posts sometimes and they just seem so OTT or written in a certain style that they can't be for real.
