None of those things scream 'bad parenting' to me. Ok, it's not perfect but what the fuck is perfect anyway? It seems like she's doing a pretty damn good job to me.

P.S. Don't forget to nplug that judgey pants wedgie! Grin

Some of it is standard stuff, but I think YANBU over the teaching the child to swear Hmm and not going to the dentist.

Either OP is trying to drum up traffic for her blog Hmm

or she really does have her judgy pant on too tight.

Rindercella · 20/07/2012 20:16

OP, please come back and clarify exactly what you find so horrifying about this blog. I have done at least 60% of that stuff at some time or another. There is nothing on that list that horrifies me.

Lisaro, that thought crossed my mind too Smile

If this "horrifies" you what on earth would happen if you found a big steaming fresh turd on your doorstep?

Report
Dominodonkey · 20/07/2012 20:19

The only one I think is really bad is the dentist one as dental health is really important and becomes more so as you get older so she is setting a bad example there.

I am also rather unimpressed at the swearing one. Will she still think it is funny when her dd is punished at school for swearing?

Other than that she seems like she has a good sense of humour and is coping with things as best she can.

It's gone! Dissapeared...what did it say??

Was the OP the writer of the blog?

I don't see what's horrifying. Apart from teaching them swear words and not taking them to the dentist, don't see what the problem is.

I think it's quite mean picking someones blog and posting it on here and ridiculing it. That mother probably uses MNet. She sounds like a normal parent - especially when she says she makes her child get things for her. I love doing that.

I let my DS (2.7 years) help load my dishwasher, and DD (5.9years) did it herself the other day.
Do I get a bad parent award too? Grin

Horrifying?!

Are you sure? Confused

Report
neverputasockinatoaster · 20/07/2012 20:38

Nothing too shocking there apart from the dentist one.

Report
rainydaysarebad · 20/07/2012 20:40

I tell my DD to run upstairs or downstairs to get things, then I count loudly and tell her she has to get back by 20 seconds to "win the race". She normally takes longer, but when she comes back I shout "TWWEENTTYYY"!!! So she thinks she wins every time!

Report
TheWalkingDead · 20/07/2012 20:43

YABU - it's not 'horrifying' at all. A couple of things I don't agree with necessarily (eg the swearing), but it's not like she's saying this is the way that you should act and it's not even the way she thinks she should act.

In the long run it doesn't matter - seems completely normal to me. I have fibromyalgia and find myself using similar tactics as the days when I'm ill are pretty hideous, and if they eat crap and watch a lot of tv or get shouted at I figure tomorrow is another day and I can try being 'better' then (if my body permits!).

Definately a perk of having kids that you can make them fetch and carry for you while you are on MN!

Just read through the blogs, she is writing as a mum with MS.

She is now partially sighted.

I don't understand what your problem is.

Isn't she on MN? i thought i recognised one of the photo's.

What is the point of this thread?

Horrifying -really???? How sheltered is your life little miss perfect Hmm Apart from the teaching her child naughty words I'd say she sounds like an average mum.....

Thanks tee, well I'm very disappointed, can't see anything particularly shocking... Dentist thing was a bit off and I guess teaching kids swear words isn't great but I've done most of the other stuff on the list at some point!

I'm guessing OP has led a very sheltered life Grin
