Popped into a little dingy hairdressers to get the kids holiday haircuts. dd(4) had two inches taken off the bottom and the hairdresser put plaits in without asking me. DS (2) had 1 inch taken off all over.

It cost me thirty pounds! Is it just me or is that excessive?

My dd has a layered bob that takes my hairdresser about 40 minutes to cut. She only asks for £3, I insist on £5 and still feel like I'm robbing her.

Wow, my kids are free if I am having mine done and mine is only a tenner.

TheHappyHissy · 20/07/2012 14:22

Took DS to the barber in the next village once. He has curly hair so it needs clipping not cutting.

£9.50. Shock

Bought clippers, so now I cut his hair myself.

You were robbed.

DH took DS to his barber once. DS made such a fuss the barber only managed to snip a couple of bits off before he gave up. He still charged a tenner, even though there was another customer waiting so not as if he'd wasted an appointment.

I take DS to one of those children's hairdressers with the aeroplane and car seats now and they only charge a £10.

£9 each for a quick cut of 11 and 14 y DDs
£15 each is a lot.

AnaemicPrincess · 20/07/2012 15:11

I'm a qualified hair dresser and just thought you should know that unless a price is clarified before hand you can refuse to pay if you think it is in reasonable or not as described.

Mine sons cost 11. It seems to be standard around here.
