To wonder why LUSH has chosen to show men's naked arses on their free paper this month?

I am probably BU but I can't help it.

My 7 year old DD loves Lush....now and then I will buy her a treat there or she gets a few of their produts for Christmas.

We get the Lush Times sent to us...and the SUmmer Issue just came...I thought "Oh good...DD likes this" and opened it to find a photo of a line of men in aprons with their bare bottoms exposed.

Yuk.

they're normal men....and it's bloody gross to see all these pale flabby arses on the front of the paper.

They wouldn't ask their female employees to do this so why ask the men? And yes they are defo their employees...they are "soap compacters" it says an they're all chucking soap up in the air in a "fun" fashion.

AIBU to think this is all unecassary and gross?

Think we need to see the bums in question tbh.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 20/07/2012 13:37

Mmm. A few areses. Find it difficult to get aroused upset.

Sorry.

KissMyEmbroideryHoop · 20/07/2012 13:40

Oh I knew it OldLAdy....I just don't like men's arses unless you count DHs...his is nice.

These are not nice...and they're "STRANGE MEN"

I don't want to see their bums!

its just bums have you seen the richmond advert on tv showing bums?

Bluegrass · 20/07/2012 13:45

Unless they are exposing a collection of rusty sheriff's badges then bottoms are pretty inoffensive things, just the places where your thighs eventually meet!

KissMyEmbroideryHoop · 20/07/2012 13:52

I just don't LIKE bottoms. They are too close to the "Rusty Sheriffs Badge" for my liking.

(with thanks to Bluegrass for brand new term)

I used to work for Lush and at one point they did have a promotion about their products being 'naked', ie with no packaging. To promote this, all the (mostly female) staff went naked under their (very large) aprons so all you could see we're their bums :)

So the girls do do it to!

littlemissbroody26 · 20/07/2012 13:57

I think think it's refreshing to see some normal men naked (but not sexual) much less offensive than wonderbra adverts (IMO.)

Lots of places do those naked callenders with the female emplyees holding melons or cupcakes over the "offending" bits, I don't see it's much different to that.

ScarletLadyOfTheNight01 · 20/07/2012 13:59

YABU, they're only bums...I love that Richmond advert, I like the fact it's got all sorts of people in the buff on it. And the man singing does have a very nice bum Grin

NameGames · 20/07/2012 14:01

It sounds a bit crass and unnecessary. I can't get worked up about a few bottoms, but I do wish our culture were less inclined towards such dull titillation in mainstream advertising. It has become so boring, and seems to replace real exploration of sexuality, and witt in commercial communication.

WorraLiberty · 20/07/2012 14:08

How do you know what they would and wouldn't ask their female employees to do?

Do you work for Lush?

MissPants · 20/07/2012 14:14

Wasn't one of their female employees trussed up in a shop windows being faux experimented on in a nakey suit? I think the lads were probably quite happy to bare their backsides after that Grin

Happygirl77 · 20/07/2012 14:14

Not seen it but no, I think YANBU.

KissMyEmbroideryHoop · 20/07/2012 14:32

worra tbh I just assumed they would not dare for fear of getting accused of exploitation.

KissMyEmbroideryHoop · 20/07/2012 14:33

I mean...you're a soap manufacturer...or a shop assistant...and then your boss comes in and says "Any volunteers for naked arse advertising?"

I'd be Hmm to say the least!

StuntGirl · 20/07/2012 15:19

YABVU. And uneccesarily prudish.

BarredfromhavingStella · 20/07/2012 16:32

YABU, bums are lush so it's only fitting I think Grin

WorraLiberty · 20/07/2012 16:33

Yeah but the key word there is "Volunteers"

StunningCunt · 20/07/2012 17:02

Lush are just a bunch of sensationalists. If it's not supporting terrorists and dodgy animal rights nutters it's naked arses.

To sell soap you've got to be extreme today.

'The Body Shop, Not Tested On Animals' just doesn't cut it in today's market. Buyers of overpriced soap want their products with a side order of carefully packaged faux Marxism.

FutureNannyOgg · 20/07/2012 18:46

I like the idea of being offended by "normal men"'s arses. Abnormal men however, would be fine. Grin

Cloudbase · 20/07/2012 18:59

And what, pray, is a Rusty Sheriffs badge???
My mind is boggling...Confused

ENormaSnob · 20/07/2012 19:00

They are just showing you where they compact the soap Shock

Meglet · 20/07/2012 19:05

It's just another Lush stunt.

If they put a bit of effort into sucking up to glossy magazines and showed how good some of their stuff (and IMO it is as I've used it for years) so it was promoted a bit more then they would get their message across a lot more effectively. They seem determined to be pointlessly whacky or annoy people instead of getting people to buy the stuff.

KissMyEmbroideryHoop · 20/07/2012 20:25

NannyOgg you know...NORMAL men...ie not Johnny Depp. Grin

They have no busines showing their milky buttocks!
