Hubby took our 11 month old son out today for a haircut. He said my son would look unique but I was busy at the time and really did not take this comment on board-more fool me. Anyway my son has just returned sporting a MOHICAN! I am not joking-he literally has a stripe of hair down his head like a skunk. My husband thinks it is hilarious but I am a bit annoyed. Should I just get in on the joke?

I think in a few years you might see it as funny! In the meantime take a photo and then cut it off

TantrumsAndBalloons · 19/07/2012 17:31

Although slightly better than ds2 who is "growing his hair for cane rolls"

It's at that in between, not quite an Afro stage, ie it just looks messy.

StrawberryTot · 19/07/2012 17:36

YANBU to be miffed but I wouldn't bother to much, just cut it move on and laugh about it at a later date Grin on another note quite disgusted by some people's opinions of mohawks Sad as a person with an alternative partner I can only hope their children grow up with more acceptance and tolerance. S.O.P.H.I.E.

lisaro · 19/07/2012 17:37

Has he got the 'mullety' bit at the back? FFS don't let him pierce his ear next!!

turbo1 · 19/07/2012 17:40

I just feel embarrassed about it. It looks a total mess. I have tried to get him to wear his Tigger baseball cap, but he just rips it right off his head.

I am thinking of taking him to the hairdressers tomorrow and just getting the whole thing shaved off. Bald may be better than this big skunk stripe.

It's very popular with little boys here I see it quite often, some can carry it off others look like little thugs. I think gelling it up daily gets old after a while and they go and get it buzzed. My youngest son was born with hair that looked like we gave him a Mohawk poor baby

StuntGirl · 19/07/2012 17:46

I think a specific hair 'style' on such a young child should be something both parents agree on. Your husband was being quite unreasonable by just going and doing it.

snuffaluffagus · 19/07/2012 17:48

Yeah I'd get them to shave it off myself!

littlebluechair · 19/07/2012 17:50

Your husband was BU for doing it without discussion. However I think it is not nice to judge people on haircuts so I echo Strawberry's post (although I speak as someone with a very conventional partner Grin)

I have no problem with adult mohicans - with the right bone structure they look great. I would be furious if DH got DS's hair cut into one, it'a a lovely seventies footballer style at the minute.

LST · 19/07/2012 18:29

The views of some people are vile! Hmm

If you don't like it op YANBU

tartyflette · 19/07/2012 18:36

ooh -- what are cane rolls, please? how do you get them?
(IMO mohicans are a hard look -- not at all easy to carry off. I have yet to see one that flatters the person sporting it)
I think you should wait till your Dh is asleep and gently anoint one of his eyebrows with Veet.

OhNoMyFanjo · 19/07/2012 18:42

10 mth old Ds hair always goes into one when it washed, maybe.......

Pandemoniaa · 19/07/2012 19:00

Your OH hasn't got your child's name tattooed into a crossword on his arm by any chance?

HeadfirstForRomance · 19/07/2012 19:08

I would fucking kill my dh if he had done that to one of my boys (esp ds2 who had masses of curls)...

but...

I can't help laughing at the image in my head of an 11 month old with a stupid mohican (sorry!)

I know you're not laughing now but you have to take a picture for future hilarity Grin

HeadfirstForRomance · 19/07/2012 19:09

our boys that should be, I'm sounding very protective with my boys typed there :)

SauvignonBlanche · 19/07/2012 19:10

YANBU, I'd be furious.

OhTheConfusion · 19/07/2012 21:08

Angelina Jolie's son looked terrible... not even mega celebrity parents can make this hair cut look less chav like!

CaliforniaLeaving · 20/07/2012 02:31

tarty
I think it's Cornrows.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 20/07/2012 06:53

Yes, sorry we say it cane roll, but yes it's the same thing.

LurkingAndLearningLovesCats · 20/07/2012 07:04

I love mini 'fauxhawks' on little boys (unless they have curls..NOT to be messed with!!!)

But a genune one? YANBU

Serendipity30 · 20/07/2012 08:11

Erm its canerows not canerolls ffs

valiumredhead · 20/07/2012 08:38

If I google canerows nothing comes up apart from pages and page of CORNROWS hair styles shera

TantrumsAndBalloons · 21/07/2012 18:23

It's not cane rows it's cornrows but my hairdresser, the boys barber and just about everyone else I know call them cane rolls.

What's the FFS all about?
