I feel about the only one who dreads the summer holidays!!!!ABU TO ASK IF THI IS TRUE??!!- i just find them too long and i struggle to balance work with childcare feeling distracted at work when i know my teens are at home and feeling i should be around for them more evn if its just for lifts.!!!

Plus i feel grumpy that my own quiet day of will be gone for 7 weeks which i use as my sanity -well not sntity but just love it.!!!!

I realy like some quiet time and id love to hear re any tips to get it when its the hols- ( As well as seeing friends,my teens, working ,dh ,visits to family of course which i do live it just the balance and needing some TIME.

I know the feeling the twins broke up yesterday for 9 1/2 weeks !!!! and DD breaks up tomorrow for 7 weeks.

DH has very little holiday left (spent most of it when my mum was in the hospital) and i have no one i can ask to have the kids for a couple of hours let alone the day :(

I am despretley trying to plan things to do with the kids but with no money the rain is putting a huge dampener on things ;(

I have just done the first week of AD's and i think i might be feeling more hopefull, but am still worried about having the 3 kids here 24 hrs 7 days a week for 2 months with mainly just me :(

CanISawItOff · 19/07/2012 12:45

I dread it because I never get to spend much of it with the kids between them going to their dad's, seeing their grandparents and just generally having their own lives.

I suppose that's the thing with working full time, the school holiday's become more precious. So to me YABU.

YANBU for 'dreading' the school holidays. I have to drive 40 miles each day for four days per week. Plus every other weekend so DS can go to respite. Drains our finances and doesn't leave me with much 'me' time but DS is happy... Aside from that just sit at home doing sod all. :(

Broke up yesterday here, SEVEN weeks to go aghhhhhhh

Arrange swaps with another mum!! Give yours to her one day, and then later on take hers for the day.

Course that only works if you have a similar number of similarly aged DC. And TBH only 1 or 2 DC, couldn't imagine having 6 of them running around my house, 4 is my limit! Grin

i don't like the holidays much either. I work and DC are mainly too old for clubs etc so i go to work and dread returning home to no food and choas later.
They moan they are board, i take time off to do stuff with them and they bugger off out with mates!!

Was easier when they were younger and in childcare

chaos even

hi 3 teen - thats my sitaution too- come home - want to chill with em but mountain of pots and requests to take places ...As for being around for em- i think its a general hover in background they want so that you are physically and physcologically avaliable .Sometimes i feel i cannot get beyond that parameter of my city with teens as you are just dring em to places .love em tho.xx
