I am sure I did this face Shock to the Mum in the playground who said it to her DD.

We were talking about a party and her DD wanted her attention so she kept tugging at her Mum's skirt. The mum said in a laughing voice 'Are you being an attention whore again Millie? Then she giggled.

Even if she was laughing its a horrid thing to say imo.

AIBU.

Agreed!

Never understood why anyone would refer to their baby/child as 'sexy girl' or 'sexy baby'

And LOL Shatners + flisspaps

It's not very nice. And it's labelling, which isn't great, either

confusedpixie · 18/07/2012 19:19

That's horrible :( I've heard camera whore being used to describe kids before and was equally shocked as you!

Orenishii · 18/07/2012 19:34

It's because all these terms have become casual vernacular amongst adults now - all these suffixes - "whore" or "Nazi". It's so common and acceptable among friends/ acquaintances now and it's like this mother in question hasn't learnt that while attention whore is acceptable slang amongst friends, it's still really really really not OK to use amongst children!
