to want to know who's stealing my kitchenware.

It started a few days ago. I was putting the last of the drying-up away and noticed that I was missing one of my baking trays. No big deal, I thought. I've probably done something ditzy and put it in a filing cabinet or used it to chisel cat sick off the dining room floor so it's in the massive heap of "things to be hosed down with Dettol".

Went through heap. Checked filing cabinet. No baking tray. How wierd. Couldn't find the damn thing anywhere.

I wondered if it might just be tiredness, but I checked after two cups of tea and a cup of coffee, and still couldn't find it.

Roll forward a few days, and I'm back in the cupboard, fishing out a mixing bowl. Can't find one of my mixing bowls. It's just gone. It was there on Sunday. Now it's gone. Now, I know this won't be in the filing cabinet, so I check all the obvious locations like on top of the fridge or in the washing machine or the airing cupboard or the boot of the car. No mixing bowl.

Someone is coming in to my house and thieving random bits from one of my cupboards. So if it's one of you lot that's thieving my kitchenware, then please leave a bloody note. Srsly. I just want to know who's made off with my mixing bowl and my baking tray.

I've lost a potato peeler, a cake slice and a paring knife. There's only 2 adults in the house as well so no idea where the hell they went.

One of the whisks in my kenwood whisk disappeared. Kitchen elf again Grin had to buy a new one. Two whisks good, one whisk bad Sad

Pascha · 18/07/2012 09:20

You owned a strawberry huller Euphemia? Shock I thought those were just jokes from Lakeland.

Pascha · 18/07/2012 09:20

Are they good?

agedknees · 18/07/2012 09:23

Tis the Borrowers. Every flat/house has a family living under the floorboards.

Or could your dh be using baking tray/mixing bowl to collect oil from under the car?

If you find out who's taking the stuff, can you ask if they've taken my mp3 player?

I left on the kitchen top and it's not been seen since - I just know that if I get a new one it will reappear!

Pascha · 18/07/2012 09:27

Ah.

I don't make jam.

I could make jam I suppose...

MarianForrester · 18/07/2012 09:28

Off to google strawberry huller.

Do you have dcs? They will be responsible for the missing items

goingtoofast · 18/07/2012 09:28

Probably with my electric waffle maker, can't find it anywhere. Lost it months ago have searched amny times, taken everything out of the cupboards but it's still missing.

TapirBackRider · 18/07/2012 09:29

Now that's a point - where's my waffle maker? Last seen at the back of a cupboard!

NorbertDentressangle · 18/07/2012 09:31

My guess on the baking tray is that someone tried making flapjack and it was so welded to the tray that they binned the lot (Thankfully my baking skills have improved dramatically since that happened to me!)

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 18/07/2012 09:35

I've got a vandal/ghost/elf who comes in and secretly chips my plates, bowls and the occasional mug.

Only the nice ones, mind. The crazily coloured ones that have been following me round since I was a student are completely intact.

Anyone else wondering why the OP seems to have a filing cabinet in her kitchen?

JustAnotherLlama · 18/07/2012 09:35

Waffle makers must be planning an uprising, mine's been missing for months. I've had everything out of cupboards and it's still not turned up!

I went mad looking for my Le Creuset casserole dish one week. My ex-h finally admitted he had used it to mix paint in and then threw it out.

I hate him for many reasons but that is still one of the main ones. He will NEVER get out of the Bastard Box for that little stunt. Angry

takingthestairs · 18/07/2012 09:45

All the missing cutlery is in my office kitchen. It's either breeding in the cutlery drawer or the men in my office (20 men, 2 women) bring in their lunch from home, complete with cutlery and don't take it home with them.

I'm still trying to figure out which is the more likely scenario Grin

takingthestairs · 18/07/2012 09:46

redrubyshoes your le creuset!!!!! that is beyond cheeky!!!

senua · 18/07/2012 09:49

I guarantee you that if you'd shot him for that you'd have been acquitted by every jury in the land. That's practically a hanging offence.

IIRC Chaos's toaster was stolen by a supervillain who disguised himself both as Prince Philip and Justine, kidnapped Chaos and was finally caught during a zombie raid on MNHQ.

Or her mum borrowed it.

olivestree · 18/07/2012 10:14

I was about to moan about DH using the pyrex baking dishes to empty the washing machine when its drain was blocked this weekend, but Ruby that just takes the biscuit. Shock

Would you like my pyrex to throw at him?

redrubyshoes · 18/07/2012 10:19

Olive

Thanks for the offer but do you have anything more lethal than Pyrex. Boy I am I glad I divorced him!

CarpeJugulum · 18/07/2012 10:19

I have a spoon stealing DS - you can have him to find the missing kitchenware?

He's thinking about graduating into coffee mugs though, so this may tip the balance in his favour? Wink
