To think this is odd?

Every now and again usually a couple of times a week a bloke pulls up in the car park just outside where we live. (he doesn't live here)
and stands outside his car has a fag and stares at either some greenery near the end of the car park, or a house near the end of the car park. Its a dead end so not going anywhere. stands for ages then gets in the car and drives off.

happened again very early this morning, but happens anytime of the day.

its feels very weird but I can't articulate why.

I think it's most likely that he's a sneaky smoker, who likes a couple of minutes of solitude and the breeze on his face when he's having a fag.

He'd stay in the car if he was up to no good, instead of getting out for the whole street to have a look at him.

I wonder if he delivers go Next or something similar, so can't smoke in the car. You are probably one of several hideaways on his usual route.

Have you stood in the exact spot to see what he can see?

I'm amused by the people who admit to doing the same ... and will add myself to their number (though I don't have any regular spots)

I live in a cul de sac and most nights around the same time a guy pulls up in his car turns off the lights and just sits there. It's really odd, freaked me out when I first noticed him. I debated calling the non emergency police to see if a patrol car could pass by but didn't in the end. He still comes by most nights and stays for around 45 minutes then goes off again. No real point to my post other than sometimes people do odd things!

When I'm out in the car all day with work I don't like my car to get too smoky so every now and then I'll pull over somewhere

When the DC's were small I sometimes used to go out in the evening and park somewhere quiet and read a book with a packet of sweets or a cake.
Very sad but it saved my sanity, if I was a bloke I'd probably have popped into the local but twenty years ago that was frowned on for a woman. Thank God no-one called the police, I would have been mortified my guilty secret had been uncovered. I used to tell DH I was going to the supermarket.

i'm sure i used to look very furtive when i was a sneaky smoker, standing next to fences / behind bushes etc...!

then all the hand washing and fretting about it afterwards...only to confess a few months later i was smoking again

god that went on for years. Poor bloke, let him have his fag....he's sufferring for it, i tell you

So, he does the same journey a couple of times a week, stops for a cig and stares into the middle distance for while... Love the idea of calling the police!

I do this too, although usually tend to mn and / or fb on my phone and try to look as if I'm supposed to be there :-)

If no phone I'd probably just stare at the least suspicious thing around, greenery for instance.
