This is going to sound so daft - DD got her school report Friday - was very good as we expected it to be (shes a bit of a swot) we are really genuienly pleased with it. On the back there is a section for parents comments... we have to write something back - what do you write? i have written and re- written it so many times. someone please help?

I usually write something along the lines of "DC has had an interesting/ exciting/challenging/ enjoyable year and we are very pleased with the progress s/he has made. Thank you!"

thegingerone · 16/07/2012 14:14

What do you want to say?

MissAnnersley · 16/07/2012 14:14

I wrote something like - I am very pleased and proud to read DS's report. Thank you very much for all your hard work this year. DS has enjoyed your class.

I like to keep it short!

CailinDana · 16/07/2012 14:15

"Thanks for a great year" will do. The teachers don't want an essay as they don't really have time to read it but something nice always goes down well :)

wrathomum · 16/07/2012 14:15

I really don't think you need to worry about writing anything very much. The school probably doesn't expect much - they probably feel obliged to include a section fro comments so that they can be seen to be "in a partnership with parents" or somesuch.
You could just say something like "WE are very pleased with X's report - thankyou for your comments".
Well done to your DD :)

flowerpot77 · 16/07/2012 14:18

Thanks guys, tough school to get into trying to keep "in" if you know what I mean as hoping DS gets a place.. im turning into a bit of a pathetic mare really.

That kind of stuff really doesn't make much difference in the end. Say something nice and they'll at least know you're not a "difficult" parent :)

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 16/07/2012 14:35

I never write anything Confused I just sign the "yes, we received it" thing and send it back. I expect this makes me a bad mother Grin

flowerpot77 · 16/07/2012 14:41

Lol at POM, it doesnt make you a bad mother. Makes you a good one for not being sat here for 2 hours of my childrens precious life writing and rewriting one paragraph! (two LO's are camping at my feet!)

OP posts:
SkinnyVanillaLatte · 16/07/2012 14:46

I'm with Pom.

Or a simple 'Very happy all round with X's progress. X thoroughly enjoys school and the excellent standard of teaching is reflected in X's pleasing report.'

whackamole · 16/07/2012 14:48

This is the sort of thing that I get stuck on and then write 'thanks' and leave it at that.

SkinnyVanillaLatte · 16/07/2012 14:51

Except I would change the last 'X's' for 'this',otherwise it's shit English......

Oh bugger, now I'm fretting at the wording Grin

RillaBlythe · 16/07/2012 14:54

I just had this with DD's nursery report - I put something about how she has really enjoyed herself & it's been great to see her developing. I doubt they even read it tbh!

flowerpot77 · 16/07/2012 14:56

lol.... im gonna ps it with next year please remove this little box, my last two hairs on my head thanks you or tx u or t u or "peace out".

OP posts:
wrathomum · 16/07/2012 18:21

"Peace out" - oh that's inspired. NOW you're getting the hang of this :o

flowerpot77 · 18/07/2012 13:16

Lol.. defo peace out then! 2 days before it needs to go back... grrrr
