To resent sending DS to school when there's no learning happening ...

And they're all so b*dy tired.

DS (in reception) has been ill for the past 3 weekends. He gets through the weeks and then collapses at the weekend with the latest virus/bug.

They haven't done any learning at school for the last 2 weeks and there'll be nothing at all happening this week for sure. They'll be watching lots of film and TV.

Why am I breaking my back to get him in early for this?

My 4 year old end of Yr R child knows the days of the week. I suspect, though, it is because we have quite a rigid after school routine due to DD1's SN.

1/12th of the class is hardly a LOT of year Rs stillbeing 4, most are now 5.

OP- if he's so knackered he's in bits keep him off school and in bed for a boring morning. If he's bouncing round the house by lunchtime then back to school with him.

Its not just Year R, at DS's school some of year 2 are so tired they are bursting into tears over nothing at lunchtime,

They're all tired (though I appreciate your DS might be more tired than most)

keep all of them off- less terrible end of term behaviour to manage- sorry! Grin

Well, it doesn't matter when the end of term is, there is always going to be a slackening off towards the end ...would you actually have them working flat out till the end of school on the last day?! Good Grief. Children need to have some fun times as well as formal learning. It is all learning of sorts.

I can understand it is obviously difficult for you in particular, but where would we be if everyone thought the same as you? We would just have the die-hard 100%ers in school ...more staff than children probably!!
