The dad stands aside with both arms out in a protective way, to let the mum on first. But then walks ahead of his son, without checking if the child managed the moving platform OK. You just wouldn't do it would you?

He then does the same as they get off. Bastard! Wink

Umm, this is computer generated...

bragmatic · 15/07/2012 12:26

He's not a dick. He's just drawn that way.

motherofallhangovers · 15/07/2012 12:28

Of course it's computer generated! Just having a bit of fun.

He is a dick though :)

You are quite right. the father should have let both the wife and the son go first.

Let's just be glad that there were no accidents and they are computerised people, anyway.

It's just a pity that it had to be a foreign company that has initiated this and it has to be called after that company. Now if Virgin Atlantic had come up with the idea .........................

motherofallhangovers · 15/07/2012 12:29

We went on this yesterday, it was good fun. But there's no way you'd let a child walk onto a moving platform like that while turning your back on them.

I feel sorry for the little boy, the dad ignores totally ignores him after they get off it.

I think this family have ishoos.

Petsinmypudenda · 15/07/2012 12:33

the boy is about 8- 10 going on his height, he is capable of doing it alone. and the fake dad looks back at 3:05

there's 3:50 mins of my life wasted

confusedpixie · 15/07/2012 15:05

This actually exists? does it take people very far? May have a trip to London just to have a go on it Grin

YANBU, he is being neglectful even, not checking his son is safely on board!

Pets: I fast forwarded to the right bit.

Do you work for them, cos that was a very sneaky way of getting people to watch the advert!!!

ilovesprouts · 15/07/2012 15:22
Biscuit
AmberLeaf · 15/07/2012 15:28

Yep utter neglect!

Did anyone else notice after they got off as they were walking there is a le miserable poster with the pic that's on all le mis posters except it says Victor Victoria?

squeakytoy · 15/07/2012 15:31

for heavens sakes, I was expecting to see a toddler, not a child that is almost the same height as the mother!

Gibbous · 15/07/2012 15:42

Without wishing to get too embroiled in a debate over imaginary people, the way I read the body language in the situation was thus:

Dad lets mum get on, gestures to son to get on, son gestures "no you get on first dad", dad concedes then gets on.

Possible same scenario coming out of the car (with dad looking back to make sure son ok), although obviously you can't tell.

If that is the intent I think it's pretty clever actually for trying to get the right message across (although clearly failing admittedly!)

I need a life :o

SoleSource · 15/07/2012 15:43

Computerised people have feelings too. I suugest a virtual therapist. :(

TalcAndTurnips · 15/07/2012 15:55

There is indeed a rather tragic back story to this little vignette; the father that you see in the film was known to at least four county constabularies for a variety of drug trafficking and distribution offences.

The carefree son on the clip was an unwitting mule. He had just arrived, unaccompanied, at London City Airport, from a 'school trip' to Colombia. We see him being ushered by his father and step-mother towards the processing point in Greenwich, where all the packages would be retrieved and the hapless lad's memory erased. This might account for the rather cavalier attitude shown by the parents to the poor boy.

All the appearances of a bright, happy family day out - concealing a tale of misery, exploitation and narcotic abuse.

HildaOgden · 15/07/2012 16:13

I thought the same as Doolallytats

Will someone please call Emirates Social Services (Cartoon Section)

Serious abuse!

ShellyBoobs · 15/07/2012 17:20

I think the mother has shit herself - look at her walking at around 0:35.

If I was the dad and son I'd have got in the next car to avoid the smell.

TalcAndTurnips · 15/07/2012 17:27

complex - I think this film is hiding all manner of secrets and lies.

For instance; what the hell are the two weird feckers doing in the departure area, at about 1:03? Facing each other, slightly slumped position, arms hanging?

I think we should be told.

frustratedpants · 15/07/2012 17:39

Also looks like dad wacks son on the head after the lift moves off. Grin

frustratedpants · 15/07/2012 17:46

2:57 the member of staff is just so funny

complexnumber · 15/07/2012 17:46

TalcAndTurnips

Facing each other, slightly slumped position, arms hanging?

This is the standard poise for ex-pats in the Emirates. Once you become more familiar with each other, falling about on the floor is considered appropriate
