To think its possible to actually die from hayfever?

I am so over summer! Bring on the snow!!

So can you die from hayfever?? I am so miserable, my whole face aches, my skin is a mess and I just want to gouge my eyes out!

Feeling really sorry for myself as DP is nightshift so no one to give me sympathy!

I am so tempted to lift the dds and bring them in with me for a cuddle as they'll toddle through in a couple of hours anyway. But I won't as the WBU.

Any hints or remedies?

Yes you can, if you have anaphylaxis.

I was like you for years, couldnt breathe as I was so blocked up, eyes almost closed etc.

One day i was dragged to acupuncture. I went in looking and feeling as though i had terrible flu...i expected nothing.

I came out absolutely fixed. It was miraculous.

Other Things i tried: washing hair daily, cutting it short during summer, using one of those air filtration humidifiers and avoiding dairy.

And, forgot to say, that was in 2003. Not had it between then and am quite sniffly this yeae, nine years free of it as been bloody amazing.

I usually have one day a year when I just sneeze and sneeze all day non stop and it's horrible and exhausting and I hate it no antihistamine makes a dent in it. It's exhausting.

This year I've not had terrible sneezy days but my breathing is more affected, I have days when I just wheeze all day, all this rain must be stirring up different pollens.

I've read that you are supposed to eat honey from you local area as this helps you build up a resistance to the pollen but I've never done that and I think it'd be a bit late in the season to start now.

Hope you feel better soon

Gah... its vile. I'm usually ok during the day if I resist the urge to touch my eyes, stay indoors at work instead of going out for lunch etc.

It hits me big style at night though.. the taking off of make up is the trigger and the shower seems to push it all from my hair to my eyes (the left eye particularly).

I'm currently finding it best to take a long acting antihistamine at bed time. At least I wake up with my eyes feeling clear.

Mine has been awful this year. Just so fed up of it now.

Wash all bedding on 95 every week

R2PeePoo · 15/07/2012 00:44

Cover your bed with a spare sheet, especially the pillows. A lot of pollen lands on the bedlinen during the day, especially if you have the windows open.

When my hayfever is bad I did this every morning, clean sheet every day, made my hayfever much better during the night.

Also, sounds vile, but if you put a layer of vaseline inside your nostrils it seems to catch a lot of the pollen. Its not very attractive to be seen doing this but it did help.

R2PeePoo · 15/07/2012 00:46

Oh yes, and a headscarf/bandanna can keep quite a bit out of your hair during the day.

Also wash whole face regularly but particularly eyelashes and eyebrows.

FadingAwayToAHippo · 15/07/2012 08:43

I have been prescribed fexofenadine from the gp along with eye drops, can't take nasal spray as it makes my nose bleed. I also have one of they light therapy things. I use Vaseline on nose and eyes, and I wash sheets on high temp every week!

It used to be just nights but it's all day now and worse in the nights. The sneezing is constant and my pelvic floor is awful, so sneezing a problem Blush

I will try the sheet that's a good idea. I try to shut all the windows upstairs but DP constantly opens them. It's actually going to cause a divorce in this house!! He says "but it's just hayfever"

I'm exhausted!

But thanks for tips and glad I'm not alone! Will definitely look into acupuncture! :)

Hayfever is the devil!!
Honestly I've never known it to be so bad.

I sleep with windows closed, only air my bedroom for about an hour each day. I can't dry my bedding on the washing line.

If I take even non drowsy meds I oversleep, and have had a lateness warning at work.

My symptoms go through the roof if I'm outside and drinking alcohol. It's really bizarre and I'm dreading going to a festival in a few weeks :(
