To NOT go on holiday with my DP& DC?

AIBU to drop the lazy bastard in it & drop out of 1st family holiday in 3 years?

Dd 10, ds 7 & ds 4, cant stand the thought of it, all together for 2 weeks!

It would teach dp a good lesson as to what I do, except no school/nursery runs, housework, meetings at ds SN school, hospital appointments for both ds...

2 weeks of peace & quiet...WWYD?

How will the DCs feel if you say you're not going? Sad

WorraLiberty · 13/07/2012 17:51

WWID?

I'd enjoy a family holiday with my DH and kids

rubyslippers · 13/07/2012 17:51

Err no

I think you need to have a sensible discussion with your DP about why you can't stand the thought of all being together for 2 weeks

If he is being lazy and not pulling his weight at home then of course you feel pissed off

mynewpassion · 13/07/2012 17:52

Feel sorry for the kids.

moogalicious · 13/07/2012 17:53

YABU. I ditch the husband and go on holiday

AgentZigzag · 13/07/2012 17:53

Are you feeling a bit undervalued Shell?

Grin

Two weeks is a long time, is it all booked up and you can't change it?

Peace and quiet has been prescribed by Dr Zigzag, you're risking your mental health going against my advice Smile

Shellywelly1973 · 13/07/2012 17:53

Dc would be fine.

Dp would shite himself!

And I bet you'd be the one cleaning up that shite no doubt eh?

balia · 13/07/2012 17:56

Any chance you could have a weekend off to de-stress (leaving him to do all the unpacking) and then join them? Two weeks is a long time - and in any case, will not get the message across; looking after kids on holiday when you just have to please yourselves is nothing like the daily grind of housework, hospital appointments etc.

Shellywelly1973 · 13/07/2012 18:07

He would be fine, would be a good chance to deal directly with dc.

I know it wouldn't be the same as what I do but it just entered my head earlier on!

He works shifts & they change daily, he never asks if thats ok.

So thought maybe I could return the favour!

Just the thought of peace for 2 weeks, not screaming kids, washing, cleaning up, cooking etc...

Why do you think your 3 children would be fine and that not having you there for 2 weeks wouldn't spoil their holiday?

Shellywelly1973 · 13/07/2012 18:55

Dp is totally capable of looking after dc,he just chooses not too.

All of them have been on holidays without me due to summer holidays/ work stuff.

It was a thought that popped in my head this afternoon, after a very long & busy week...

Next week is even busier, dp isnt off til fri, when we leave & all the organisation will be left to me.

Just a mad minute but rather appealing minute!
